For the record, mine takes about 7 good poundings. And the looks you get from the neighbors as you beat the hell out of your car are priceless.

Thanks for the help everyone. And I did lube it up pretty good down there while I had it open
Good job!

Now the guys in the neighbourhood know who not to mess with in the future

True. If I see some stupid bugger beating the hell of his car for seemingly no reason I would stay off that crazy guy's lawn and out of his way.

But what if that car used to be his car and he's angry at your for beating it? I'm angry with you. That car has been through a lot.

Then he should know that the car has been through a lot worse than that and if he didn't rear end a guy the hood wouldnt have any dents in it right now! And he should know any damage done will just blend in with the rest of the car. And he should know that sometimes the car needs some tough love to keep her straight.

Ya, she looks more than a little run down on the outside...and inside, but she can do her job very well for having so many miles on her.

You watched that read ending. It was the guy who got it in the rear that did the agressing there.

True. This is evident by the fact that he had to pay big bucks for initiating the rear ending.

If the cable isn't snapped from pulling on it so hard, get a friend to lean on the hood while you work the hood release. If you can pull the release all the way to where the hood should let go, hold it there and tell your buddy to bang the hood a couple of times or have him lift it manually. It should pop up.

Once your done under there, look for 2 black rubber stoppers (looks like rubber bolts)...1 at each corner of either the hood or the corners of where the hood sits. These are adjustable. Screw both of these in 1 turn apiece. Once you have done that, put some oil on the latch mechanism and close the hood normally. You shouldn't have to slam it. The hood should release with no excessive force. Hope this helps. If it does help, you may need to adjust those rubber bolts so the hood doesn't wobble (too loose). Good luck

Thanks. I managed to get it open by hitting it, but Ill take a look for those rubber stoppers too to try to avoid having to beat the car whenever I want to get under there.

If this does work, it should work like brand new as long as nothing is bent and the spring isn't squashed or distorted.
