No worries, as long as you are cheering for the right team.
4x4 is so right, Luxembourg is great. Very close to Trier, if you chose to drive that way (though it's 180 km or so from Koblenz to Trier, with lots of scenic stops. That distance is from the top of my head it has been 6 years since I last drove it.)
Luxembourg city is stunning. Built on a series of hills with really steep ravines/gorges/river valleys between them. Old buildings on top of every flat or near flat surface. Really an attractive little known city.
My frst trip out from Koblenz was Trier/Luxembourg/Bruges (Brugge). You need at least a weekend to do any justice to that though. Bruges...awesome. Not so good for just an afternoon off though. If that's all you have, I recommend Burg Eltz and a drive by at least of Cochem.

ps did you know there are 2 Waldorfs very close together. Both near the Rhine, one between Koblenz and Bonn, the other between Bonn and Koln.

Nurburgring is closed this time of year i believe... lots of fun though but i wouldn't suggest taking a rental car.. the ring is phrohibited on most car rental agreements in Germany.. If you could make it to Stutgart check out the Mercedes-Benz Museum it is pretty cool.
