I usually lean away from capital punishment, but when you're looking at a convicted serial killer I don't really know what the other options are. This is one of those cases where I'll cross the lawn to peer over the fence, and then start climbing over. Absolutely no chance of rehab & release, and while it sucks to make a decision on life/death based on the economics of a situation it realistically happens all the time involving much better people. Outside of capital punishment everything about Willie gives me the 'no' feeling.

After hearing 18 statements, Justice James Williams ordered the Port Coquitlam, B.C., pig farmer to serve a life sentence with no parole eligibility for 25 years for his conviction on six counts of second-degree murder.

"Mr. Pickton's conduct was murderous and repeatedly so," Williams said in rejecting the defence's argument for a minimum parole eligibility of between 15 and 20 years. The Crown had asked for the maximum.

Jailed for a minimum of 25 years, i.e., life with no possibility of parole for 25 years. The maximum sentence the judge could have imposed.

For anyone who cares, there won't be a second Pickton trial.

This assumes Pickton isn't successful in an appeal of course.

Families of the remaining victims are obviously upset, but it's the right call from the AG's office.

It should be left up to the families of the victims to decide what to do with this guy.
