Tony Richardson as the full back isn't half bad either....
I don't mean to say that Adrian Peterson is over rated or anything like that, but in order for a running back to be successful a good offensive line and full back does help. Although the Vikings are running the ball without much of a passing game to back it up, so I think those guys have to be pretty good runners to have the success they do.

I woudn't say the Chiefs O-line with Roaf, Shields, Wegman, Waters, and Tait or Welbourne, Black was underrated. Maybe being a Chiefs fan I allways saw plenty of hype for them. I remember a Monday Night game vs the Ravens. They showed Ray Lewis getting knocked around like a rag doll by Waters and Shields. Then showed him on the sideline with a bloody nose talking about how he was getting his ass kicked. Those guys could play.

I would say for someone to be called overratted they would have to have perceptions/expectations higher than what they are currently performing at. Anyone who mentioned Tony Romo as being overratted doesn't know enough about football to justify that statement. Yes he gets a lot of press for being a Cowboy quarterback but keep in mind he took a .500 team mid-season last year and led them into the playoffs and so far this season has only lost 1 game. He's also orchastrated a few 2 mintue drills to win games (vs. Buffalo, and vs. the Lions). Yes he's not Payton Manning or Tom Brady, but I don't think those comparisons are being made and likewise he's not over-rated. One could point to Romo's 6 INT performance vs. Buffalo to qualify the overrated tag but then again Payton Manning did the exact same vs. the Chargers this season too. As for my pick I'd agree with the DeAngelo Hall pick. Since when has he been consistant enough to be a 'shut down' corner?

Thanks Cowboy, I guess I should give you my 2 provincial championship medals from coaching football, clearly I don't know anything about the sport.
He's playing well lately, but don't gloss over the fact that he's also thrown 6 pics in a game as well. Yes Payton did as well, after missing 3 of his top 4 topics ... oh, and he's won a superbowl and not droped any balls for a convert.
He's got a great line, one of the best, if not best WR in the game, the best overall TE in the game and a great defence to ensure the D respects the run. So lots of things to help him out
I agree that the topic speaks to those who don't live up to the hype. That's why Bosworth isn't a great example because his hype is that he sucked in the pros.
I've been listening to commentators talk about how Romo is right there with Brady and Manning, which is to me overrated.

If that's what's being said then it's a stretch. Romo has to duplicate this season three or four times and win a ring before that's deserved. However it's a little premature to call him overratted by saying he hasn't won a superbowl or been a top 3 QB for multiple years when he's in his second season starting. It's also not like Brady and Manning play or have played for teams with a poor line or bad targets to throw at (minus Peyton's first two seasons).
This is more or less the same Cowboys team personelwise that looked very mediocre at times the past two seasons (I know Bledsoe blows (blew), but it's also not like there are 10 other guys in the league who could have led the Boy's to 13-1 this season.

Both of those games were more about the defenses than Romo, and he did fumble the game away against the Lions on that drive only to be saved by Paris Lenon.

Probably the most overrated this season has been Reggie Bush. He is all over the NFL network in commercial after commercial. If you consider the amount of hype he recieves vs his actual production. He is very overrated.
Another player who is very overtated is QB Brodie Croyle of the Kansas City Chiefs. If you listen to Sirius NFL radio or watch a Chiefs game on TV. They will go on and on about Brodie's rocket arm and his athleticism. Chiefs President and GM Carl Peterson will go on and on about his decision making. All this was before he ever started an NFL game. Now I would say that his play so far this season has been ok. After all he is a first year starter in his second year in the league. Plus his O-line is pathetic so he really has no chance to do anything. But untill he does do something. Enough with the hype. He is not Joe Montana (yet).
Also Dewayne Bowe, rookie wide reciever for the Chiefs. He had a hot stretch at the beginning of the season where he made some amazing receptions. Now he coudn't catch a beach ball. Every pass goes off his hands. He will drop at least 2/3's to 3/4's of the passes thrown his way.

Was that when he was mic'd up, and kept saying "It's not possible!!", referring to trying to break that double team to get to Green? Haha I remember seein that.
I love Roaf. So glad he chose to enter the Hall as a Saint.

...waiting for displaced's head to explode......
...I kid, wasn't sold on him at first, but he's going to be a great one, lot's of poise and leadership in that kid, plus you can't teach that arm. Disappointed in Reggie myself, but this season could be the wake up call that propels his career, in what direction is the real question.

In all fairness to Reggie. It is the NFL that is pushing his image so hard. Probably helped that the Siants had such a good year last season as well. Is he overrated? Or has he been overhyped by the media and the league? Do they mean the same thing?

That is in NY media, but in the rest of the media it has seemed like people have waited for him to become Peyton - The Sequel. I don't think that is fair to him. He is Eli, not Peyton and never will be Peyton. But that doesn't change the fact that people have tended to portray him as if he will be Peyton.

Eli and his family, or dad, made it well know that he didn't want to be drafted by San Diego either. Then we saw the sulking after the Chargers drafted him. He wanted to be in the biggest market with the most scrutiny. I don't feel sorry for him one bit.

I wonder if he ever looks with envy at the Bolts?
As bad as the Chargers were for those years, they sure were able to take a couple high draft picks (Manning and the pick eventually used for Vick) and turned them into gold. Perhaps they learned something from the Leaf fiasco.
