Studies like this do not prove anything and don't consider cause and causation. For example, I am sure you can compare 2 groups of the same faith from 2 different cultures or regions, and get totally different results. Infidelity likely has little to do with faith, but more to do with culture and environment.

Yet Religions constantly worldwide preach they are 'morality' and that those without faith are immoral.

Its that which irks most non theistic and atheists the most.

Studies which proves the fact what the religions preach isn't true helps make this point, thus we do in fact appreciate more people being made aware of it.

Anyone else find it odd that the more conservative and more liberal christian groups, the muslims and the non-believers are all more likely to cheat than your traditional middle of the road christian?
To me, this sounds like another bogus "study" intended to be 'feel good' fodder for these people and also as ammunition for them to claim moral high ground.
Imagine the likelihood that us non-believers and the evil muslims and those wacky JWs and mormons and those gay-loving angllicans are ALL ~37% more likely to cheat than the good, honest folks that attend regular, southern protestant church.
Just to keep things tidy, baptists and catholics are also relatively moral. Not quite as moral, but not as bad as those other guys. 30%.

Rouge, you say this study is legit? Can you Jean Chretien that for me and give me a proof is a proof and show me where it's proven?

The Barna results seem very credible:

A recent study by the Barna Research Group throws extreme doubt on these estimates. Barna released the results of their poll about divorce on 1999-DEC-21. 1 They had interviewed 3,854 adults from the 48 contiguous states. The margin of error is ±2 percentage points.

American Press (AP) confirmed the results in another study:

The Associated Press computed divorce statistics from data supplied by the U.S. Census Bureau and the National Center for Health.4 They found that Nevada had the highest divorce rate, at 8.5 divorces per 1,000 people in 1998. Nevada has had a reputation as a quickie divorce location for decades. People from other states visited Nevada, fulfilled their residency requirements, got divorced and returned home single.

The data showed that the highest divorce rates were found in the Bible Belt. "Tennessee, Arkansas, Alabama and Oklahoma round out the Top Five in frequency of divorce...the divorce rates in these conservative states are roughly 50 percent above the national average" of 4.2/1000 people.

It is fair to wonder what this all means. Perhaps atheists/agnostics don't marry as often - more common/law unions? I raise this not to say that these people are more moral than others, but to show they are not immoral.
