left my house at 6:20...got to work at 7:40. Usually at work about 6:40, so my drive took an extra hour this morning. Can't imagine what it's like on the roads after 7. Thats what i like about being on the road at 6:30. Not much traffic. People who work at 9 and sit in traffic to and from work...don't know how you do it.

Was supposed to go to Lethbridge..took the day off instead! Being self-employed is so great on days like this!

I've realized that I can't stand winters in this city anymore. The freezing cold outside and the dark mornings and dark nights (sometimes dark days), probably contribute to my depression.

Well, times like this and living in Calgary, I expect major gridlock everytime we get the first couple dumps of snow. So I'm used to it. I don't let the drive time get to me. I mean, I could be all grumpy sitting in my car for an hour and a half, but either way I'm gonna get to work at around the same time. So might as well just relax, and have a safe drive to work.

Seasonal Affliction Disorder gets a lot of people this time of year. If your job hours line up just wrong, you can totally miss the sun all day and just live in the dark. Even if you do get a chance to be outside when the sun is up, days like yesterday with the dead grey clouds that give only an ambient light still screw ya up. At least today you can see where the sun is, even if it's not really shiney.

I left at about 6:05, and got to work at about 6:30. It usually takes me 15 minutes and today it took me 25. Leaving early is the key.

Left the house at 6:10, in Evergreen, and got to work on 32nd Ave NE at 6:55. The bf left the same time as me, but had to put the garbage out, and said there is no way he would have been able to get out of Shawnessy without taking at least an hour, so he went back home. I guess those few minutes were key.

Days like this I'm glad I live downtown. You guys should all move down here. There's crackheads everywhere, it's a blast. And, yeah. When the weather is shyte the office is only a hop, skip, and a jump away.

Heck I know some people who take the plus 15 system to get from home to office. Now THAT'S convenience.

A big F U to those who think all season tires are sufficient in Calgary. I was stuck behind a Camry that couldn't get up a hill and had to back all the way down. When I got around him I was able to accelerate all the way up the hill with no problem, in a car not exactly known as a winter performer.

It's about the same here in Siberia
Good thing I have a window view, otherwise I never see the sun anymore

Left my house in Signal Hill at 8:45, got to the university at 9:50. The trip usually takes 15 minutes.

Letf my place at 8:50, got into work about 20 minutes later. Traffic wasn't to bad for me. it usually takes about 15 minutes for me to get to work anyway.
If i wasn't in training today, I wouldn't even have bothered coming into work.. since I do have the ability to work from home.

Don't they go hand in hand?

I would say you are risking your own and other's safety if you are out on summer tires today, even more so than all-seasons.

Apparently that is fully functioning too.

Anytime I've put on my winter tires I never really paid attention to them and as I just bought a new truck I don't know if I have winter tires or not. How can I tell?

Summer radials are deadly in the winter... anyone with those are out of their minds, or total assclowns.

All-Seasons are a completely different story depending on the type. Cheap All-Seasons are almost as bad as summers. But the high-end All-Seasons with proper ice/snow treads, or All-Weathers (like the Nokians) are fine, IF you have a FWD vehicle with ABS and Traction control. When I drove a RWD car, if I didn't have my snow tires and sandbags in the trunk... it was very hazardous to drive. I got caught once without that, during a freak snowstorm in September... and my emergency winter driving course paid for itself that day. I'd never do it again though. There is no excuse for being ill-prepared by the last week of November though.
