Easy now - he could have just been trying to get few referrals from other parents in the area that are on CP, and then have gone and done his own due diligence and evaluation. That's what I assumed he was asking for.
I didn't read this as "Hey come babysit my kids!" with no evaluation of the sitter. Which would indeed be asinine.
Have you tried to find a sitter / child care in this town? Finding cheap housing is easier.
