The athletes will have to work at Home Depot while training anyways.

That's the stupid thing about this. It does nothing to help athletes in their pursuit, it just provides a monetary reward once the pursuit is over. And if someone does win gold, they've got ample opportunity to earn money through sponsorships, speaking, etc.

It's so ass-backwards.
