Oh I agree that the rest of the band shoulda said something, however. Since its Nate, who is one of Grohls oldest friends, and the only other founding member of the group, I think that a seniority thing played into this. Nate has a lot of respect so if he is passionate about something the guys may have gone along with it even if they didn't agree.
I know in my band that if the other guitar player had brought this forward I would have kicked him out. Our bass player I woulda taken a vote (which would most likley be a no) and that would be the end of it. But if my drummer, who is my oldest friend, brought this to us and said this is something I am passionate about I woulda sat down with him for along time and talked with him about it, which is what I imagine alot of people behind the Foo Fighters did, and if I could see the passion and the knowledge of how easily it could destroy us (and if he would take the blame

) I probably wouldn't stand in his way.
