Your story of struggle and determination is an inspiring one, thank you very much for sharing it!
I believe I can relate to your friend's husband, I have been with my highschool sweetheart since I was 15, but have been through some psychological issues last year and I'm pretty sure that we broke up because of them, after 10 years. I have been seeing a psychologist now for 8 months and things are fine (I guess?), but indeed, it's very good to see someone who also knows what 'struggle' is with internal demons and really do something about it.
Good Work Resolute, keep your chin up, breathe in the beauty of the world and take every single opportunity to make your live all that you want it to be!

Best wishes for you man!
Good on you for faceing your demons straight on. As a person who fights his own demons daily I understand all too well what you have gone through and what you are doing today. It takes a great amount of courage to do what you are doing. You have my utmost respect.
Never give and never surrender!

I think the guy deserves a skill point for opening up to us and facing his demons.

I'm blown away by the stuff some people will reveal about themselves to a bunch of people on the internet who they never met before. Almost everyone has a secret so I'd have to imagine it takes a lot of courage to do something like that knowing full well I could never do it myself. Good luck to you, Resolute.

It has been an interesting line of thought/discussion these days for me as well. Funny how people simply sharing what is really going on instead of masking it, as is usuually the case in life even among people who are 'close', can inspire others to tackle their own demons, even if they are not the same demons.
Good luck man!
Claeren.

Not only that, but we all can learn something from Resoltes story. He gives hope to others that maybe suffering. It's out there if we strive and work for it.
Courage comes from never saying i'm going to give in. Admitting to ourselves that we're human and sometime we may not be strong enough to fight our battles alone.
There's a sense of community that always rises to the top when someone is in need. The good in people come out as they offer help and encouragement.
Makes me proud to be a member of this community.

Sometimes it is easier to open up to a stranger. You don't need to worry about them judging you every time you see them in the future.

Not only that, but in a lot of cases, the diversity of opinions can help open a path to an answer that you or your real-life circle of friends wouldn't consider otherwise. I never even knew the Calgary Sport and Social Club existed until a recent thread mentioned it. Last night, I registered for a winter league. It isn't something I would have even thought of had someone else not asked for ways to get out and meet people.
And thanks to everyone for the comments and well wishes. I know that many others here have, or are, facing similar challenges. I can only echo what Dion states: Never give up!
Oh, and for Reaper:

I'd wish you good luck but the way I look at it, luck has little to do with it. I wish you much patience, inspiration, joy and hope in the new and exciting twist your life has taken.
Well done, Resolute.

Well, I have to say judging by this thread, and the one by RicoSauve, I've been extremely impressed by the maturity and understanding of our community. This really is more than a messageboard. I think deep down we all know life throws some difficult things at us from time to time. At the end of the day, its our responsibility as people to lift eachother up. Congrats on the new start Resolute 14.

Congratulations Res, I really like that. You have to control your own destiny, and it looks like you've taken the reigns.
