take out the 50 and rich part and I might feel slightly offended. It was only until I hit the late 30's that I could actually afford to buy a Harley. and now that I own one, I wont ever part with it. Have ridden bikes all my life but had to stick to japanese bikes just due to cost.

I'm dying to find a truck like that for a winter project. My friend and I had a bead on a 49' International a couple weekends ago that was used as a flowerbed for 25 years. The guy bought a property outside of calgary and the truck was thrown in as part of the landscaping. He cleaned the dirt out and puts fresh plugs in it and the thing fired up. Too bad someone snatched it out from under us already. It woulda been a decent project since the body was suprisingly good.

one of my best friends had a '72 Chevelle SS 454. About 500hp. Pass everything but a gas station. What a great car. I had a chance to buy a '69 SS with a 396. He wanted more money and I couldn't come up with a lousy $500.00. Dammit!!!

If you want a 200-300hp car, you can do it with really good fuel economy using a turbo 4 cylinder.

That said, the best performance bargain by far, the Z06, is a pushrod V8, and there isn't too much under $200,000 that can keep up with it.

Both have their place. In winter give me an AWD turbo 4 cylinder though instead of the RWD 7.1L V8 though please.

I like the classic American muscle cars from the 60's and 70's. The new reincarnations are nice, but they don't hold a candle to the originals. About tens years ago the Japanese tuner cars where at their peak, they are making a come back. Those mid 90's Supras, Skylines, RX-7's, Silvias where just great.

I personally have to go with American Muscle, I drive a modifed 84 Mustang with a 347 in the summer....

Tuner cars dont do it for me really, they have their advantages, but even a nice looking car (which is rare in and of itself) thats well done still doesnt do it for me.

Theres just something about knowing that if your right foot 'slips' and 'accidentally' mashes that pedal to the floor you'll be looking for your balls in the trunk that is just all kinds of awesome....

why, thank you

i'm probably a bit strange. i love the old muscle cars and it shouldn't be too hard to guess what's sitting in my dad's garage back home, but i can appreciate a tuner when it's done right. being able to push out over 300hp from a 4 cylinder engine is just neat to me. now i'm nowhere near that hardcore (don't have the money or time) but just from putting in a CAI and Borla cat-back exhaust in my Mazda 3 i love driving it so much more. and i know that my car is scrap metal compared to the '69 Nova that my neighbor has sitting in our building's underground parkade, but at least i don't have to worry as much about driving mine in the winter and i can get better than 10 miles per gallon

Every generation has its "posers."

You dont think teens in the 70s or early 80s would throw Cragar SS wheels, jack up the rear end, and throw some V8 stickers on their otherwise stock 6 cylinders.

A pre-1974 muscle car is at least 33 years old today. That means it was either worth taking care or was restored or built up. All the junk has either been layed to rest at the wrecker or taken and built up.

Im not old enough to have been a car owner in that era but Im old enough to remember all the clowns in that era. The guys driving JDM would have been modigying their dads 6banger 4 door darts back in the day.

Most of the imports are owned and driven by posers, they've got rims, exhaust, and a body kit for a car with a mighty 90hp 4 cylinder. They know very little about they're car outside of the words cold air intake and jdm.

the "bling" rims do not belong on musclecars at all, the low profile tires just look silly IMO. the 'Cuda looked so good out of the lot that anything other than a stock look irritates me

I agree with what you are saying.. I always cringe when I see someone rolling around in a "classic" 4 door

That used to be true, until the 09 Nissan GTR was released. It is now back at the top. It is about the same price as the Z06, but with twin turboed 3.8 ltr V6 engine, AWD, 473 hp, 434 torque, it will give the Z06 a run for the top car < $100K.

By that time chevy is rumoured to be offering a supercharged 427 called the LS9.. It will be shoehorned into the corvette and possibly the new camaro and will ensure continued domination.. In the neighbourhood of 650hp I think..
