'h' is silent when following a 'p' in Thai. So it is pronounced "Poo-ket" not "****-it"
I did enjoy my first moments in Thailand while taxi'ing in to our gate, when you are driving by all these planes lined up "Phuket Airways". Not knowing the pronounciation at the time it was pretty funny...
