All good idea, minus of course talking to fart dude and swimming with my secret lifeguard girlfriend
Helicopter - too short notice and it's dark @ 6:00pm
I agree, movie and dinner is lame.
The food shopping idea is good, but I don't want to tidy up the place that much! hehe
Ghost battles? WTF ?
Sultans tent? That indian? I'm a little sick of indian food right now
Nah table, not the lifeguard - we're just friends! Or.. well, I'm not allowed to hit on any of the others ones lol.

Their building on 17th got torn down but I see that they're reopening on 14th street.
Moraccan Castle - 19th St. NW (Moraccan)
Moti Mahal - 14th St. SW (Indian)
Pegasus - 14th St. SW (Greek)
All have great food and decent ambience for taking out a date.

I'm a fan of Aida's on 4th St. SW in Mission. Lebanese food, very yummy.
I'm not sure how late it's open in the winter, but what about a trip up the Calgary Tower? It's neat to see the sights from up there....

Grocery shopping, you don’t have to re stock your fridge but pick out something nice for dinner, its very interactive, there is lots of conversation, and you can have fun, once you have picked something out take her back to your place and cook it.

I have done this a few times. Highly recommend it. It's even better going in without knowing exactly what you are going to cook. Involve her in the selection of food and in the back of your mind throw together a dish that uses what she picks. Joke around, have fun. Be silly. Involve her in cooking as well, such as stirring a pot while you chop. After dinner, ask if she had any thoughts of what she'd like to do. Before she get's a chance to reply after thinking about it, recommend a movie on the tv (if she doesn't recommend it herself). If the night goes well, it won't end

Dont feel bad. He didnt acknowledge my Hobo Stomping idea either.
See if I try and help him out ever again. It is a perfectly legitimate date activity.

There's another form of the helicopter that I learned about in a hockey dressing room... and it's free!

It's Moroccan and delicious, although a bit pricey. The best part is Moroccans don't use utensils.

movie and a dinner is horible, you dont bond at all.
for me, at dinner, theres minimum talking, i want my damn food hehe, theres talking here and there but nothing interesting, basically random thoughts, and the movie, you cant do anything at the movies unless the theatre is empty hehe.
Always do an activity, bowling is actually a good idea, go skiing, goto a flames game, tower is a decent idea too.
but the best is when you invite her and prepare the dinner together, and the movie afterwards...works to perfection!

I think there are lots of cheesy things to do, so try something.
It's a tough game to play- girls always say they want the guy who will take them to dinner and a movie, but if you do that they aren't happy with it. They want something more original. Confusing.
Good luck on the date, and if it goes poorly at least the Flames will be winning! (knocks on wood).

Probably confusing cause it's not entirely true. I disagree that girls want a guy to take them to dinner and a movie on the first date. Maybe they want that later on, when they know one another a bit better, but not a first date. The second part about wanting originality is true for some girls, not all though. I wouldn't care if it wasn't an "original" date, I would just want to have fun and find out more about him.
I guess my point is it shouldn't matter too much where you go. Keep it fun, keep it lighthearted. That's why I like the shopping idea, but make sure you sell the idea as something you have put some thought into, otherwise, (depending on the girl) there is the potential for her to think this was a last minute idea or that you just really needed to do some shopping.

Didn't see the hobo stomping, but it's cold out sorry.
And I thought fart dude had a fart like name.. Guess not, sorry, I'll pay attention to your suggestions.

Tell her your going to a fancy restaurant so she should wear a skirt, then be funny and take her wall climbing instead. And make her go first.
