National Geographic has a show called Lockdown, and if that show is any indication, these guys aren't well liked. But they are also protected. They seem to serve their time in an area full of ex-gang members, and guys who have given up their violent way of life behind bars.

ideally the prison system would take the stance of preferring to rehabilitate rather than throwing sex offenders in situations where they'd be butt-raped or beaten all the time. after all these offenders eventually have to re-enter society, and i'd feel better knowing that they had received help for their addiction or whatever it is. don't get me wrong, these guys are the lowest of the low, but every single one of them will eventually find themselves back on the streets at some point.

Let's not confuse two separate issues. The police bring the bad guys in, the justice system is another story. They shouldn't be lumped together.

Too true, which is why I support chemical sterilization and selective lobotomization for defectives like this.

I honestly have my doubts that sexual predators can be rehabilitated without the removal of their sex drive. Its like the argument that you can't change the sexual preference of homosexuals or heterosexuals (Please no homo debates here). Pedophiles are turned on by young kids, your not going to curb that sexual urge unless you lop something off either chemically or physically.

I think its a waste of time talking about thinking of putting these people back on the street, because when that urge hits, they seem to be powerless to resist it.

With this guy, to me his crime is triple repulsive. He is a repeat criminal, he raped a young girl, he raped a young girl who he was in a position of authority over. I don't think any drug or any treatment is going to make him a useful member of society.

I vote that if they do release him, that he gets released in the arctic circle, naked and covered in fish entrails, if he wants to return to society he can walk back and hopefully become polar bear poop.

I don't think castration is going to do any good, he might not be able to act through his urges, but that embedded desire will make him want to try.

Well, how about lethal injection then?

As much as I like the idea of that, I don't think the death penalty should really apply here.

I do like the English idea where they would banish people away to Australia, and not allow them to return, keeping them contained for the rest of their natural born lives.

Build a Oil rig in the middle of the ocean, air drop supplies to it so that theres no chance for escape.

Why build anything. We've got a bountiful supply of northern islands. Let's see them try and make it back to civilization from here: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=7...&t=k&z=11&om=1

Air drops come every month on the 31st. Pending weather and calender restrictions.

Edit: Maybe we can proclaim our sovereignty over Hans Islands by making it into a pedo-tentiary.

What I don't understand is why he doesn't get 5 years for each and every time he raped his daughter? Granted, with DNA this particular rape is easier to prove. But with the "prior bad act" now proven in a court of law, can't the "his word against hers" really allow her word to be given more weight?

My thoughts exactly. Their "mistake" in letting him wander the yard with the general public would be a shame.

5 years what a joke... 10-15 more like it, look at what the daughter has to live with for the rest of her life.
