Short term and big money. Similar to Torii Hunter in that he is great defensively, but Jones has a better history as a power hitter and run producer. Hunter has had two years of slugging over 500 in his career has his career best OBP is 337, career OBSP is under 800. Jones in his career has a 849 OBPS in comparison. At 30 years old he's still not that old, so if he can come back from injury than he should put himself in position to get another big contract two years from now. Hunter is two years older and his last two years rate as two of the 3 best years in his career. I think Andruw Jones will be better bang for the buck than Torii Hunter. Both are pretty expensive though, and certainly the Wells contract had a bearing on these ones.

Gagner was lights out for Texas, but when he went to Boston really struggled. Being back in the closer role in a place like Milwaukee may be a better fit for him.

Bradley signs with Texas ... funny because I thought I read he was going to accept arbitration with San Diego.

I think they have quieted down, I do know that the Giants are now talking to the Yanks about Matsui.

Based on all reports, Riciardi is still waiting on a response from San Francisco. It sounds like they're still seriously considering the Lincecum for Rios swap and Sabean has stated he's likely going to make up his mind in the next day or so.

The Giants have been looking elsewhere for offence (Rowand, Fukodme and Matsui are the three names most frequently cited) but they struck out on Fukudome today.

A new trade has just been reported by ESPN.

"Orioles send shortstop Tejada to Houston for 5 players"

Word is (according to TEAM 1040), that the Pirates and Padres are talking trade, Jason Bay being one of the players involved. More to follow I'm sure.
