Stars Lose close game to Rangers

Dallas,TX- The Dallas Stars once again dropped the decision in a close game to the New York Rangers. Both teams played a good game, but the Rangers were able to get the victory 4-3. Kip Miller who has been the hottest Star of late had another strong game with a 3 point performance which got him the first star of the game. RW Vladmir Orszagh also had 3 points on the night and clicked well on a line with Miller and Weimer.

In the first period the PP for the Stars seemed to be clicking. They scored 2 goals on the man advantage and had the lead 2-1 going into the second period. Orszagh got the Stars underway with his fourth of the season with the assists going to Miller and Clymer. Keith Tkachuk tied the game up for the Rangers, but the same three guys gave the Stars the lead. This time Clymer got the goal with the assists from Miller and Orszagh. The second period was a slow period as their were no goals and little offence produced from either side. The third period was all Rangers as they took the lead with three consecutive goals. Popovic, Tkachuk with his second and Markov scored for the Rangers as they had a 4-2 lead. Kip Miller scored with under two minutes remaining to make the game close, but in the end the Stars could not sustain their lead from the first. Chris Osgood who played well for the most part once again picked up the loss. The Stars were solid on the special teams as they were 50% on the PP going 2-4 and held the Rangers to a goal on 5 opportunities.

The Dallas Stars will be in action once again on Monday afternoon and will be facing the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Stars and Jackets have hooked up once so far this season and it ended in a 5-4 victory for the Jackets. The Stars are hoping to have Krys Kolanos and Jarret Stoll back for that game as they are still day to day with injuries.

Leafs finally put back to back wins together led by solid goaltending from Roman Chechmanek who obviously reacted positive to his benching last game.

Positives:

Solid defensive play allowing only 17 shots.
Power play clicked at 25%.
Nedved with 2 puts him at 12 for the season.
PK was solid as the Flames went 0/3.

Negatives:

Low shot total 27
Paul Kariya remains sidelined.

Next up a trip to Broadway for a tussle with the Blue shirts.

Ducks go down to Wings. Both teams take a beating.

Its true! The Ducks are human after all. After a blistering start under GM Halifax Drunk, the ducks finally loose one. Going 2 for 4 on the powerplay was not enough to lift the Ducks out of the mud as the wings had the first 5 goals of the game. The ducks responded with 4 goals in a span of 19 minutes, but just came up short as Meathead...I mean Laraque, scored into the empty net.

Todd White was clearly upset with today's performance. "It's heartbreaking to play so hard to and make a game of it only to come up short. We got off on the wrong foot and couldn't dig ourselves dig out"

On the plus side for Anaheim is the play of Joffrey Lupal, he has responded to being put on the 2nd line, and has notched at least one point in his last 3 games. GM Drunk is looking for an equally impressive performance from another rookie, Ilja Bryzgalov has been named as the starter for tomorrows game against the Oilers. "Ilja, came into a tough situation today but played really well, The save on Langkow in the 3rd will be a highlight for years to come. He is our man tomorrow, Roberto is a workhorse but he needs a night off."
