I'm going to school in winnipeg now, but my family is all back in st.albert. Anyways we lived like 3 doors down from Iginla when he still had his house in st.albert, no lie. So the first time my dad meets Iginla he's walking down the street with his wife, so my dad approaches them and says hey i'd like to welcome you to the neighborhood i'm (insert dad's name here). Jerome then introduces himself to my parents and they start talking for a while when out of the blue my dad (who's a flames fan also) ask jarome what he does for a living? Iginla just looked at him kind of puzzled and then my dad started to laugh and so did iginla. He also seemed to open up alot more after the joke.
When I first met him my dad introduced me too him and we just talked about how my hockey was going, how school was going, you know just regular people stuff.

The first time I talked to Robyn Regehr I told him how awesome he was for spearing Kevin Sawyer in the balls.
The next time I talked to him I asked him to pretend to beat up my friend while we took pictures.
The first time my friend talked to Craig Conroy, he told him to watch out for the puke in the bathroom.
You know.. regular stuff.

If she's really nervous, tell her to start with Conroy. Easiest human being in the world to talk to, because you don't have to do much talking.

Was this the contest in the Sun? There was one to meet Warrener tonight's game, or the 30th where you'd get to meet Craig... maybe it's not, but either way, but guy's are hilarious and amazingly friendly, so basically all you need is, "Hi."

Thanks for all the replies.
My friend finally found out that the Flame player that she's going to meet is Alex Tanguay.
She is very excited but is kind of like , since Tanguay doesn't seem like a guy who talks very much.
So, is there anything you guys would like to ask/tell him? I could tell my friend to pass on the message.
Anyways, thanks again.

I just say hello, shake their hand, tell them i'm a big fan and wish them luck. More or less every time they'll actually engage in a conversation, at least from my experiences meeting guys like McAmmond, Amonte, Simon.

Talk to him about hair replacement surgery... okay that's brutal, I would hate to meet Tangs he just seems really quiet, I loved it when I met Conroy he just went on, and on, and on, I dont even remember what we talked about he just had the biggest smile on his face.

Your situation's a little different obviously, because you actually won tickets to meet them, so I'm sure theyre expecting lots of hockey Q's. But whenever I run into athletes on the street, I actually like to bug em a little bit, probably because theyre not used to hearing it, it usually goes over well. I dont mean like taunt them or anything stupid like that, but joke around with em.
For example, I went to a football camp back in summer '05 and met Dominic Rhodes(RB for the Raiders, he was the Colts starter when they won the SB last year). I was with my cuz and asked Rhodes if he was available for a picture. He said sure, and posed with me. Then I said "No, no, I want you to take a pic of me and my cuz". Haha he was so confused, and took the camera from me to take a pic. I started laughing and said "No Im kidding, I want a pic with you". He laughed pretty good, you can tell he's just normally used to people kissing his ***.
...although I ran into Noodles in the changeroom at Club Fit up here in Edmonton two weeks ago and didnt say a word to him. I wanted to, but something about a half naked guy chatting up another half naked guy in a towel just didn't seem appropriate...

If I did that, then the President would come back.

I wish he would come back. Guy goes to camp and thinks he's too cool to come back and post? Pshhh....
Just be normal. Don't try and interview them. Normal conversation is what they respond to best.
