Dire Straits Goddo The Faces
Humble Pie
Little Feat and/or Lowell George
There's a good old Canadian band. I saw them in a bar once & still have one of their albums on vinyl. Thanks for mentioning them ... I think I'll dig out that old vinyl. Maybe grab Walter Rossi too while I'm at it.
Missing Blur, but given that Damon Albarn could cease to make music would make the hit harder to take. Certainly everyone has heard Gorillaz, but Albarn has a new project called "The Good, The Bad, and The Queen" to help fill in the gaps. It's decent. I think best bet is Graham Coxon gives up on the solo career and goes back with Albarn for a Blur reunion. Their collaborative efforts are superlative.
After hearing the new Smashing Pumpkins album (which, frankly, sucks) I have pined for their old material - I saw the band in one of their last-gasp performances in Deadmonton in the late 90's and it sucked. I guess I'm having pipedreams that SP could ever really be again.
Could Pavement do a reunion tour at least? For me? Malkmus fairs well enough on his own (I can attest, having seen him and the 'Jicks' live twice) but I am certain he is incapable, solo, of another Wowee Zowee, or Terror Twilight (god, I love that record). Yeah. Pavement. That's the band I am nostalgic for.
Dire Straits (Knopfler has always been a favourite of mine)
Ultravox (was the first group I really got into. Saw them in concert a numver of times)
Midnight Oil
James (the band)
Glass Tiger (discovered this band on my first visit to Canada in 1988)
I've seen them live a number of times, but I can't recall ever seeing them play anything from their first album. (Maybe Smalltown Bringdown, but I was probably drunk)
Highway Girl. The double suicide version is quasi famous.
I'm not nostalgic for AIC, I simply adore everything they ever did.

It's too bad because that albumn is really quite good. I admire the fact that the Hip have developed as a bad and avoided becoming style....but I rather miss when they just flat out rocked.

I've been a Hip fan for a long time. Their new stuff, well since Music at Work I guess, has never impressed me. I've got over 100 bootleg concert CDs and Ive seen them play just about every song live. The one song I had never seen them play live (oddly enough) was Long Time Running and it is one of my top ten favorites. I was lucky enough to have second row seats to the first concert they played in 2002 (I think) at the Jube. They finally played that song and it was the best experience Ive had at a concert. I guess it was cause that night I kinda said good-bye to them. They had decided to finally play a rock out concert like the old days and I knew that was it. Ive seen them since and its just never the same.
Anyway, so, yeah. I guess you could say since then I have been nostalgic for the early Hip.
Nov 9, 1991. They opened for Van Halen in Edmonton. Sooooooo glad I saw that show. It would be the only time I ever got to enjoy them live.
Dec 15, 1992 @ The Palladium in Hollywood, CA...with Gruntruck and Screaming Trees. Best concert ever for me. That band in that venue (no seats except in the balcony) was something special.

Was fortunate to see Queen in the 70's at the Jubliee during their Night at the Opera tour. I believe Thin Lizzy was the opening act. I also saw the Ramones at the University of Wales' Students Union in the mid 80's. Both shows are in my top 10.
As for the Clash, I still kick myself for missing them at Max Bell years ago.
I'm sorry I missed Zepplin and The Who.
