i think Dion IS a vagina, but that's another matter
hopefully he doesn't force an election and is forced out of the Liberal leadership for abandoning his values. my political views fall in line much more often with the Liberal side than with the conservative side, but they REALLY need to start picking some better leadership. i will continue to not vote as long as they keep putting ######bags like Dion at the helm

If the Conservatives get the support of the Bloc and NDP for the throne speech, won't it pass anyway? I forget what the make-up of seats is...

Yup. If the Liberals could block the speech without help, they'd be the ones making the speech in the first place.
Not that the Bloq or NDP is likely to support abandoning Kyoto. It's Dion's call.

Well there are a lot of comments that I could and probably should respond to, but I wonder if there is any point?
Sure, there are crackpots who could shoot their mouths off in the Liberal party, but really this has been an on going issue for the CPC/Reform/Canadian Alliance for decades now. Someone suggests that the earth is 6,000 years old, or that we should open the abortion debate, or capital punishment, or opening the constitution or....well you get the point. Those are hardly issues that any other party wants to get into!
This situation is created because both the Bloc and NDP have already said that they will not support the throne speech.
As far as Dion as a leader, admittedly he has not done well. He is certainly not the guy to improve the party fortunes in Alberta! That being said though, Harper is at a point to cruise to yet another minority government against a leader who may or may not have a vagina...but definitely has lower poll results than any other Liberal leader since John Turner. I wouldn't call this an overwhelming endorsement!
Lastly, any CPC blowhard who thinks that disaffected Liberal voters are coming to vote for the Christian Right are likely sadly misguided. Most of these votes are going to either go NDP or green, or stay home. This is the same thing that happens when the disaffected CPC voters are forced to make another decision...they don't become Liberals all of a sudden.

NDP and the Bloc have said they will not support the throne speech, haven't they?
It is intheir interest not to. They are both looking to pick apart the Liberals. It is up the Liberals whether we have an election or not.

No doubt... interesting how one stereotypical comment gets jumped all over, but someone directly calling Dion a 'vagina' garners no responses... you can tell which way this thread leans.

That reminds me of an old Maggie Trudeau joke. Apparently she got food poisoning once from eating some meat that had been hanging for 50 years.
