So if it's an unattainable goal should the NFL just give up on it and let their players run wild like the NBA and MLB do?

There is a difference between "marijuana user" and "baked moron", just like there is a difference between "beer drinker" and "drunk at work".

I'm sure there is, but I'm not sure what your point is.

Yes, because the thousands...no...millions of young calgarypuck fans out there are very impressionable.
See the difference?
Hey, if you want to take risks like that with your life go right ahead. Don't be surprised or offended if I think its moronic.

I think you missed the point. What I meant was that Pete Rozelle's vision of a league full of outstanding citizens is about as likely to come true as my 12-year-old dreams of having sex with Loni Anderson.

Well good for ol' Pete. If he did all that then bully for him. I don't really care, to tell you the truth. The NFL will never be a league full of "outstanding citizen athletes", so he was wrong on that count even if he nailed everything else
But, even if they do bust all them evil pot smokers, they'll still have plenty of work dealing with the murder charges, juice-pigs, wife-beaters and Saturday Night At The Dog Fight promoters.

You don't care yet you felt strongly enough to post about it?
Nobody said pot smokers were evil. Don't throw yourself on the sword quite yet!
And yes,....they will always have problems to deal with. I'm just glad they are dealing with them instead of ummm..ignoring them like those other two leagues.

It is an unattainable goal. I don't know if they should give up on it or not, but "not testing for marijuana" does not equal "letting them run wild".

Here is a hypothetical:
Mechanic A smokes a joint on Friday night when he gets home from work. On Monday morning he fixes your brakes at 8am.
Mechanic B finishes a bottle of Crown Royal at 2am on Monday morning and is fixing your brakes 6 hours later.
After lunch on Monday they take a drug test. Mechanic A gets fired for using drugs, Mechanic B pisses the test with flying colours.
Is this reasonable?

Every place I've ever worked that did random drug testing also did random breathalyzer (sp?) tests.

I can't (on this point) argue with that. I've never worked anywhere that drug testing was part of the deal and I've never even heard of random breathalyzer tests.

2 companies I worked for in the early 90's did it. I kid you not, I pissed 7 times in one year.
I wish they did at Boeing, I'd still have a job there.
The Postal Service doesn't do it.
I would guess very few companies random test.

Your right, I complete don't understand what you are trying to say, Henry is about to be suspended for a year. I'd say the NFL is doing more than any other league could dream of to manage this. So they are still working on Pete's vision? So what, they are working on it, and not ignoring it like MLB or NBA.
And yea there are lots of different types of problems NFL players are getting into, but remember there are alot of different NFL players. 32 teams with 52 players per. If there were 3 times as many arrests of NFL players vs NBA, it's still less per capita. Not perfect but actually not bad accross over 1600 athletes who have tons of money and a range of upbringings.
