MRC turning into a University

U of C's medicine and law programs are both very good. There is a lot of parity in these programs across Canada though so its not like U of C is head and shoulders over anyone else.

But this is coming from someone who researched at the Health Sciences building for a year and a half and is now in law school out of province.

For post-graduate work it depends on the field. I've heard good things about the U of C Law program and management programs. The Medical program not as much good buzz but there is some top notch medical research that comes out of Calgary.

For the sciences it really comes down to the supervisor. Both the biological sciences and chemistry departments have world class and world known research groups. The Chemistry department in particular has two high profile young professors one of which has developed into a very big name in his field of synthetic chemistry in the world, has arguably the world leader in computational chemistry, and a couple of quite famous older profs. Physics? who cares about Physics.

Can't comment on the other social sciences or arts programs.

Are you sure about the law program, everyone I have talked to says Calgary is the program that one should avoid.

Who are you talking to?

From everyone I have talked to, everything I have read about the UofC Law program is highly regarded. Not to mention it has a fancy entrance way.
