I highly doubt Tom Cruise is building a bunker. I think we can all agree that he is definitely F'd in the head. But even Tom Cruise is not stupid enough to think you could be a bunker to withstand Xenu's galactic forces. I mean Xenu is like the badass of space.

Careful, there are Christians on this site. Some of us think it makes total sense. Not Tom Cruise, who is a wackjob.

Why is Christianity immune from examination? To an outsider, it is just as irrational as Scientology, Islam, Judaism, or any religion you can think of.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15566391/site/newsweek/
Despite a full century of scientific insights attesting to the antiquity of life and the greater antiquity of the Earth, more than half the American population believes that the entire cosmos was created 6,000 years ago. This is, incidentally, about a thousand years after the Sumerians invented glue. Those with the power to elect presidents and congressmen—and many who themselves get elected—believe that dinosaurs lived two by two upon Noah's Ark, that light from distant galaxies was created en route to the Earth and that the first members of our species were fashioned out of dirt and divine breath, in a garden with a talking snake, by the hand of an invisible God.
This is embarrassing.
It is, of course, taboo to criticize a person's religious beliefs. The problem, however, is that much of what people believe in the name of religion is intrinsically divisive, unreasonable and incompatible with genuine morality.

But I am sure Tom will figure out Xenu's weakness, but that's isn't taught untill one becomes a grand master Scientologist, and can raise L. Ron Hubbard from the grave.

Why? I think the same thing about Christian beliefs that you think about his.
You're all wackjobs.

It certainly isn't out of the realm of possibilities, I mean...
Both of Natalie's parents are Clear, she says. Her grandmother is what's called an "Operating Thetan," or "OT." So is Tom Cruise, who is near the top of Scientology's Bridge, at a level known as OT VII. OTs are Scientology's elite -- enlightened beings who are said to have total "control" over themselves and their environment. OTs can allegedly move inanimate objects with their minds, leave their bodies at will and telepathically communicate with, and control the behavior of, both animals and human beings. At the highest levels, they are allegedly liberated from the physical universe, to the point where they can psychically control what Scientologists call MEST: Matter, Energy, Space and Time.

You should take a look at the list of celebrities that are scientologiests:
jason lee, Hyde (from that 70's show), Beck, and many many more that I had no clue about. Some have been raised in the church.

I'm really in the same boat with you with losing respect for these wacko individuals. The funny part is that I'm sure most people here have never personally known one before, but somehow there are many bigger names that are Scientologists. I wonder how someone approaches you to discuss this "religion"? Those people must be great salesman. Anyway, the Greta Van Susteren one really surprised me too. You'd think the smarter ones are immuned from such stupidity. Guessed wrong.

Well this cult...er, I mean...religion really caters to celebrities. My understanding is that their celebrity status in Hollywood, gets them celebrity status within the church. I mean look at the "Celebrity Centre":
To me it seems like another place for celebrities to get their egos stroked. Perhaps that is why it's so popular among them right now. That and it's the replacement for the last celebrity religious fad, Kabbalah. If anyone is interested I recommend reading this Rolling Stone article on Scientology. It's a good look into the workings and founding of Scientology.

oh man, where to start with this?!
The post above that mentions how TC is high up on the 'theton' list or whatever is because in this "religion" you pay money to reach higher levels. the more you pay, the higher you advance. However, in the case of celebrities, they don't have to pay, and are recruited by scientologists, given perks etc.In return, they are expected to promote scientology at every opportunity, and the more upfront and in your face about it they are the higher level they reach. Since TC practically stands out in the streets screaming he's a scientologist he reaches a high level because of it.
L. Ron Hubbard, the founder was a science fiction writer, and the whole backstory on scientology is based on a science fiction story he wrote about an evil overlord, Xenu, imprisoning souls of beings on other planets, banishing them to earth, and these souls finding their way into the bodies of cavemen, and for some reason people started to believe it was true. Also conveniently, he was the person on earth with the highest theton levels. Pretty coincidental that the guy who made up something would be the one with the highest amount of them, ever.
I can see the conversation that led to the creation of scientology:
L.R. Hubbard: "hey Joe, did you finish reading my new story yet?"
Joe: "yea, I did. Is it true? If it is, we need to protect ourselves from this Xenu fella. How do we do that?"
LRH: "well, maybe if you give me some money I can use it to find a way to protect us."
Joe: "OK, heres $20. Is that enough?"
LRH: "It's a start. I noticed when our hands accidentally touched when you handed me the money that you seem to have a pretty high theton level, and that's what we need to fight Xenu."
Joe: "Really? How do I get more thetons then?"
LRH: "uuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh, well.........give me more money."
Joe: "OK!"
And thus scientology was born.
Hehe, sorry guys, pretty long winded post, but I'm bored and in a weird mood
