Sorry for your losses. Welcome back to the herd.

Your post is a great reminder to keep life in perspective. Maybe that hunt for the almighty dollar isnt quite so important. Its a balancing act, but these stories certainly bring me back to what really matters.

Cherish the times we have with our families/friends.

Sorry to hear about your brother and grandmother. That dwarfs my largest problem by far.

Thanks for the advice in this post, specifically what I quoted. It's really fitting with the day I've had today. To sum it up, I became so angry at some decisions at work that I had to leave, but not before sending an e-mail to the president with a fairly angry tone. A few nasty e-mails and a drive home (left early) later, I calmed down and decided to approach the problem. I've been pretty unhappy at work and you get no where when you are like that. I now have a meeting with the president tomorrow to try and resolve the issues. Part of the reason I've stayed so long was I didn't know if I was capable of quitting. Today proved that indeed I am capable and if things aren't resolved, I'm finally prepared to follow through with it. Like you said, work isn't worth being unhappy over and life goes on.

As someone who knows "that phone call" all too well, you have my deepest condolenses.

The thing is, the phone ringing will never sound the same now. I know for me, everytime the phone rings, I have that in the back of my mind. Especially when people call at odd hours... I get right pissed off now if someone does that for something stupid.

Wow, what a crappy/good summer, talk about the extremes in emotions. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to have you back. At least your self-imposed ban is over for the beginning of the Flames 2nd Stanley Cup season...now theres a good thing to help you.
