I'll be waiting along with you guys. We need a Calpuck TFC2 server when it does finally release!!!

Chances are, it'll be 1AM MST or something...or never given that it's Valve.

does yours say "launching Team Fortress 2" when you double click it, sit for a bit, then do nothing? getting the same problem

Update 4: Users attempting to launch the ostensibly released Team Fortress 2 beta, including Shacnknews editors, are finding the game client refusing to launch. Attempting to launch the game simply returns a Steam dialogue box reading, "Preparing to launch Team Fortress 2..."

well its up and running now, and i must say after 15 minutes of play the chances of me making it to any class tomorrow just went to .

yep. when i first started playing, all i could say was "wow". the visuals are like nothing ever seen before, and SO MUCH EFFORT was put into the little details to make it such an incredible game (like the first time i was blown up, and a little box pointed to a chunk of flesh and said "a piece of you!")

this is easily going to be one of the best game of the decade

Personally i like the new spawn timer, no more insta respawn for the lemmings. Made being a sniper somewhat more difficult now though, for better or for worse.

Though i must say Spys are simply overpowered right now, I'd expect we'd see a tweak to them and scouts upcoming.

Engie is pretty much the same sans grenades(they don't exist anymore) Their sentry guns are easier to kill but the fact no one has grenades makes em hard to kill when built in the right spot.

As for HW, same big heavy gun makes you walk slow as heck when you try and fire it, takes some warmup time. The big bonus HWs get is the fact medics are MUCH better healers right now. Team up a HW with a medic and you can do some serious damage, after a certain amount of healing the medic can turn on invincibility mode in which both the medic and target are invulnerable for about 5 seconds.

They changed Snipers so that the shot is charged now by using the zoom not holding the shoot button, big recoil on each shot leads to longer recharge as well. found playing sniper became MUCH harder then in TFC.

Every class has a different melee weapon and they're all pretty much overpowered. Maybe I'm in the minority but i thought that the Spy knife should be the only one shot kill. They pretty much all are if you hit someone in the back.

Scouts are soo fast its silly, i'd expect them to be slowed down a bit in the future.

Spys are so overpowered its ridiculous. Not only do they have the ability to appear like someone from the other side, but they can turn invisible for bursts of time. So basically it goes something like this. Disguise, backstab, cloak, Disguise, backstab, cloak. rinse and repeat. In addition spys have the ability to destroy all engie buildings(sentrys, teles, dispensers) without losing disguise. Even I, the pinnacle of mediocrity managed to cap the flag twice and outfrag everyone by 10 when i played the spy on 2fort, that shouldn't happen.

Sounds like some bugs are still to be worked out then. I'm shocked they got rid of grenades, but entirely surprised. Gone are the days where you waited at the gate for the timer to countdown, only to be bombarded with 20 grenades and spray from the heavy guns.

Good question. As far as I know, it's still in production and not cancelled. Another Team Fortress 2 all over again it seems.
