I like econ too, its kind of normal practical math. It's my minor right now, but I kind of want to do a double major in Poli Sci and Econ.
You going to the UofC?

I am in intermediate micro econ right now...not really enjoying it. I liked both intro courses and considered majoring in it...but i have lost all my interest in it in the intermediate courses...

Now I am a Biology major!

I don't think Will Holden teaches Econ courses anymore, but if he does. Then you should definately take a class with him. If not, then JF Wen is an awesome prof. Frank Atkins is pretty good too

I had Holden for macro introductory. Funny guy, I reccomend that you take him if you get the chance. He is quite the character.

Holden only teaches Geography courses now, since he finished his PhD in it.

Ah, that guy was awesome in first year with his Kevin Minor stories and his chair throwing and all...

A couple years ago in a Macleans magazine, they had the top three most popular professers in a Canadian post-secondary institution and Holden made the list. They didn't rank the top three, just listed them in random order.

Holden is just a crazy prof. He teaches with enthusiasm that no one can rival. And if you ever run into him outside of school. He is also a wild party animal

Back in the day, Math 251 was the only course I ever failed, and almost cost me my degree (and cost me academic all canadian). The second time I took it, I was failing going into the final, pulling off a curved C+ (charlie, plus, as the old MRC telephone system would call it), maybe my biggest academic achivement stuffing Calculs stuff into my brain that I didn't understand no matter how hard I tried.

It was a pre-req for Stats 251. Finally, numbers that weren't theory, but actually meant something when you figured them out. A- grade.

You guys are all just haters!! Says the Stats Major.

Seriously though, Stats is difficult but definitly doable. I wouldn't say it gets much easier after intro courses, rather it gets harder. However you just got to keep reading the notes and doing examples. If you ever have a question you can PM me. No promises I can get it, but I will try.

LOL,

I've got Holden for my Geography class, he teaches 321 - Resource Management.

I had him for Econ 203 two years ago, and he was waaay crazier. I still remember his Kevin Minor stories, his chair throwing, and his sick obsession with Robocop.

He hasn't thrown a chair yet, talked about Kevin Minor or imitated Robocop so far, but his comical demeanour is still nevertheless present. I had to look twice at my course list to make sure it was actually Holden who was teaching this geography course. When I found out, I was ecstatic.

I think that guy now has a degree in Economics, a degree in Law, a Masters in Economics and his PhD in Geography. Yikes.... I don't think I could ever do that. Too much school. Blech.

Regarding Stats, I didn't find 213 that hard. 217 was a mofo though. I remember going into the final with a C, and coming out with a B-. I had to work my ASS off for that final.

Aaaaah, senior courses are waaay more enjoyable though. Lots of work still, but the material is far more interesting. 'Cept for Finance 317 though, it's the bas**rd course from hell. I don't know why someone would major in it!

I agree...senior courses are wicked....I was quite disappointed that Holden's not teaching any GEOG options next semester though

Finance wasn't bad...just the midterm. I'd take Finance 317 anyday over the pain in the ass that is Marketing 317.

Yeah, the midterm for Finance was brutal. I've still got ill feelings towards it.

....But I'd take the Marketing 317 midterm over the Finance midterm any day of the week!

I guess that's where we differ........ B)

Imagine stressing yourself out to learn how to perform convolution in both the continuous time domain and discrete time domain, only to learn 3 weeks later that once you know Fourier Transforms, you pretty much don't have to perform convolution by the first method, because the convolution turns into a multiplication once you do the transform!!

Seriously though, don't drop it bud. I think you should stick with it. Good luck!
Aaahhh.. signal analysis..

Laplace and Fourier transforms are easy, frequency domain is where it's at yo! Get used to it, frequency is your friend. [/b][/quote]
Heh... course actually isn't too bad... a whole lot of the same thing... Matlab however is a real pain!

Enter 4th year electrical, matlab in 5 of my 6 courses so far this semester.

I am still known to one proff as the guy who hates matlab.

Econometrics is a great class....this comming from the Actuary. It's the exact same as Stats 429, which is required for me. Taking Econometrics right now with Atkins, I never knew a prof could swear so much in a week. Econ teachers all seem to be pretty good teachers in my experience. Never had Holden, has Tracey for both Econ201/203 and for Econ 341.
Stats is completley do-able, from what I saw from my friends notes studying for her first midterm, I could easily lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
