Am I the only one worried about 'the powers that be' letting a few known terrorist attack plans slipping through the defenses at home to increase the number of people available for ground presence?

As much as this type of campaign would hurt Iran, it would only cause the neighbouring nations to bind together in an effort to face a common enemy. Nations like Russia and China might take their chance to topple a weakened US and take their spot atop the world as a superpower.
