Over Under at 53. Anybody else here think that this game will go over? I got $100 burning a hole in my pocket.

Well normally early season football favors the defence as offensive units are still trying to get in sync. But as far as I know both these offensive units don't have a whole lot of significant change going on that they should both still be potent enough for the game to be like 35-27 sort of thing. Of course if they both drive the ball down the field on long drives all game they might run themselves out of time before it gets past 53 points.

Will the Colts run D problems resurface? This game could get ugly for the Colts in a hurry with the two headed monster of Bush and McAllister.

If you think that Bush and McAllister will "run wild on you!" then I'd suggest that NO at +6 would be a safer bet than over 53.

Now I got $200 burning a hole in my pocket. I didn't say the Saints would run wild on them. I stated that if the Colts run D turns out to be as pourous as it was in the regular season last year. Things could get ugly in a hurry considering the talent of Bush and McAllister as well as the rest of the Saints offense.

Thats the thing I love the most about a day like today. The anticipation is so thick you could cut it with a knife. All sorts of scenario's are running through my head.

Anyone else throwing a big bash to start off the season?

Yup too many scenarios, that's how the NFL sucks everyone in. They put an amazing matchup on the very first day!

Not only that. The great thing about parity is that every fan, with a few exceptions goes into the season opener with optimism for their favorite team. Right now everyone has the same record. Unlike other sports where you know your team is going to stink and there is nothing that can be done about it. ie Edmonton Oilers.

The Colts defense is going to take a while to get going, with new faces and a lot of young guys. I wouldn't be suprised if they start off like they did last year in the regular season, but will improve as the season goes on.

Even if the Saints run the ball well, it's not going to get ugly for the Colts, they still have one hell of an offense to go along with playing in the RCA Dome. It's going to be a heck of a game

Not sure about parity argument, there are alot of bad teams in the NFL. Remember that there's only 12 playoff spots out of 32 teams.
The Edmonton Oilers include, Oakland, Houston, Detroit, Cleveland, Miami, Arizona, Green Bay, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Minnesota,... that's alot already.
There's much more parity in the NHL than in the NFL. (that is until the Ducks win like 3 out of 5 cups and drives Bettman nuts )

You'll see the usual suspects in the playoffs.. NE, Indy, SD, Denver, Baltimore, Chicago, Seattle, NO, Philly. Cowboys.

I woudn't call Baltimore, Chicago, Seattle or NO usual suspects. NO was a joke untill last year. Maybe some of those teams recently. But you won't see the Dynasty teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers under Chuck Knoll or the 49ers under Bill Walsh dominate for a decade anymore. The exception being New England of course.

One of those poor teams you mentioned will come out of the blue this season. One team usually does. Optimism is high in Arizona, for instance.

Dungy's Colts could dominate.. they might win 3 or 4 super bowls before it's all said and done.

It's pretty clear that Indy and NE will be around 13-3. Houston and Cleveland will be around 3-13. I hope you're right though, I would like to see a Buffalo or an Arizona or a Green Bay make the playoffs.

Colts should be dominating this game but have made too many little mistakes. I was happy David was the Saint to return that for a TD though, always liked the guy as a Colt. I have no idea how the refs have missed soooo many clear holding calls against Freeny.

I am so happy I drafted Addai in all my leagues. He is so good in this offense.

I'm in 3 pools, and picked 8th, 10th and 10th - I never had a chance at Addai (or LT, or Gore or Manning or Alexander.....)

But holy crap, Indy made it look easy tonight.

Oh well, better to lose the first than the last, but the Saints were seriously out of synch last night, and Manning was awesome. Well hopefully this loss gets the team refocused and angry, the o-line and d-line need to play much much better, they were dominated by the colts lines.

I think the Saints will be fine. They do play in a weak Conferance and in a weak division (looks like a weak division so far). But can they hold a candle to the AFC? Doesn't look like it. If I was a Saints fan. I would be a little concerned that maybe this team was a flash in the pan last season. More than one team in history has come out of nowhere for one season. Only to fall back to mediocrity the following year. But it is only 1 game. Interesting to see what happens against the Bucs next week.
