Mazzagatti needed to stop that fight a lot sooner. He's the one most responsible for the safety of the fighters. And he failed miserably here. Babalu is an ass for punishing Heath more. Looking forward to seeing him get beat really soon.

No Cro Cop or Fedor at this one? I thought those two were supposed to be two of the best? Or am I thinking of a different MMA league? Maybe Crocop is still recovering from that massive leg to the head he suffered a few months ago...

Cro Cop and Fedor are two of the best heavyweights in the world., with Fedor being widely regarded as the best fighter in any weight class. Fedor has signed, or will be signing, with the K1 promotion. UFC wanted an exclusivity clause. Fedor fights in Russia, mainly combat sambo, and they wouldn't let him do that. K1 would, and they are offering good money as well.
Cro Cop will be fighting in the next UFC event, two weeks from this past Saturday, September 8th. He will be fighting Cheick Kongo, a pretty dangerous striker from France. The event is in Ireland, but will be shown, tape-delayed, that night for free in the US on Spike TV ... I don't know if Spike is available in Canada or not.

Its just so weird for me to watch the UFC at times. Cause they are trained to keep going when the guy is down till the ref stops it. But as a hockey player it just seems dirty. Ref shoulda stopped it sooner, unless he was asking him if he can keep going and getting a yes, but even still he shoulda stopped it. I'm interested to see how UFC handles this one

If Heath wanted to wear a shirt to the weigh-ins with Babalu's mug-shot on it then he shouldn't have been surprised to go to sleep. Heath started it, Babalu finished, that's the way it should be.

Incase you're still wondering, Rento "Babalu" Sobral has been let go by the UFC.

Why?
Sure, there was alot of blood, alot. But Heath was still fighting, still defending himself, and the blood wasn't obstucting his vision. There is no reason that fight should have been stopped any sooner then when Heath tapped.

They are two of the best, but usually a fighter fights 3 times a year on average, some more, some less if injured etc. No way can they be on every card. Infact at this point Fedor is not with any organization.
CroCop is fine, he is fighting in a week at UFC 75

I thought you could see Heath squint and wipe his eyes several times. I thought that suggested his vision may have been obstructed. Perhaps the ref asked and got a sufficient answer. Just my opinion, though, based on a crappy quality internet vid.

I think thats the break right there, unreal he surived that kick, and the one that hit him flesh towards the end of the 2nd. I'd love to see these two go at it again, and I can't wait to see Gonzaga again. It was unfortunate that his nose broke, because despite being shaken from it, and barely able to breath he still fought great.
