It took me a while to get accustomed to beer. Now that's my #1 choice. However when I was younger I would drink paralizers, brown cows, and different coolers. For coolers I'd suggest starting with a Mike's Hard Lemonaid- it is pretty good and you are less likely to have your masculinity questioned.

I don't know about Canada, but at least around NYC one has to be careful about ordering an "Irish Car Bomb" if one is in an Irish pub. Some bartenders of Irish descent are touchy about that particular appelation.
If I'm at a Pub and the man in the apron hits me with a brogue I'll just ask for "A Guiness and a shot of half Irish and half Baileys, please, sir".

A shot of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and diet Coke does the trick for me (or a G+T)...but like its been said before, if I could add up all the $$ I wasted / still waste on booze and pub time I could buy a beauty car...

Get a Jager-Bomb!
Red Bull and Jagermeister! No only do they taste good, it will prevent the 12am downers and tiredness... if taken at the right time. Most places will give you the jager, and you have to mix the redbull yourself, because i'm pretty sure its not incredibly healthy to drink and have redbull.

Honestly, I would suggest the "alcopops" that seem so popular nowadays. They're flavored malt beverages.

I actually can't believe I'm saying this but didn't like beer went I was in my youngers years but LOVE it now, as mentioned it is an aquired taste. Like another poster mentioned start with the coke and add some rum or even spiked rum. Candy apples and vodka slimes awww the good ol days at Three Cheers not sure how many order those drinks anymore.
My picks for you are Malibu Pineapple, Spiced Rum and Coke, Vodka (Raspberry flavored) and Sprite, or just plain Vodka Sprite works.
Runner up Coors Light.

I was quite partial to Candy Apples in my youth. From time to time, I will have one for old time's sake. Except then it reminds me of going to the Taz because that's where I used to go when I was 18. What a crap hole that place was.

I remember drinking a lot of Vodka Slimes, Candy Apples and shooters when I turned 18 and was old enough for the clubs.
Now Im older and I do the pubs instead when I actually feel like drinking. I don't like beer either, so I drink Strongbow or Guinness. Or better yet, Crown Floats, with Strongbow AND Guinness!

Ceasars are alright but there are defenitely more tasty drinks out there.
Mojito's are great...mint, lemon juice, sugar and rum. If you can find a place that makes it with cuban or sugar cane rum the better...Laurier Lounge on 17th makes the best Mojitos in town IMO.
There's a drink that's mainly served in England, the Shandy which is beer and ginger ale. My friends and I came up with our version called the Power Shandy...1/2 light beer like grasshopper and 1/2 smirnoff ice. This is something you have to try because it's so tasty and strong.
Another mix you can try is Strongbow with an ounce of cranberry juice. Or the Crown Float which can be made with Strongbow and Guiness or Champagne and Guiness.
The French Connection is another tasty and strong concoction of Cognac and Amaretto.
Fire in Heaven is a great shot...Rum with a splash of Tabasco...drink fast and stand back
If you don't like the taste of alcohol your best bets will probably be chick drinks. Go to a place like Vicious circle and check out their Martini Menu. Experiment, try new drinks and remember to drink responsibly. Have fun!

k im thinkin i'll try these vodka slimes first as they seem highly recommended. im gonna have to make a list to pull out next time i go to the bar with these suggestions.
so far i've tried a double rum and coke (probably should just stick with singles for now), guiness... which was nasty, kokanee gold... which was alright but still kinda gross... a caesar which was disgusting, some green limey drink... quite a few shots which are alright, and earls' house special drink (whitewater or something like that?). i liked smirnoff ice back during grad but i can't drink that anymore it just makes me want to puke everytime i think of it.
i think ill try a gin and tonic... i could definitely down a strawberry daiquiri but that seems slightly effeminate to me.

Have to agree. I can't believe how incredibly expensive bars and clubs are these days.
