Yeah I love playing Strogg for the Icarus.. nothing like mobility!

I was playing earlier as the field ops, and decided that the GDF just wasn't going to get to deploy any of their own field ops stuff.. with the Icarus, violator, my own artillery, I basically made their entire team switch away from field ops! They got a few rounds off a few times, but I basically followed the helicopters around and denied them any artillery support.

The Obliterator with the Icarus is great too, take out the deployables at key moments.

To me this game is too busy. I wasn't involved in any of the betas so this was my first time playing, but being throw into the fire like that I think is too much for general gamers and most will stay away. The objectives, the 20 different things going on in the HUD, it's just way to busy.

It's a decent game, but the learning curve is high. Seems like they tried to add too much stuff imo. I'm a little disappointed because what I had seen earlier on was great, but i'll probably stay away from this one.

That's funny because my complaint is almost the opposite; I can get bored playing sometimes.

It doesn't take too long to get over the learning curve once you learn the role of each class and their abilities. I had the exact same impression as you after beta 1 (wtf is going on??), but I did some quick reading on the site and in beta 2 things made more sense.

Indeed, the game is actually quite boring and simplistic. when you actually get a team that really wants the objectives, they are unstoppable. When you get a team where everybody is just wandering and death-matching, then you get frozen at some capture point like the MPC.

There is no feeling of "hitting" somebody with your weapons, you just spray and pray...there's little satisfaction in a kill. Is there anyway to replenish ammo aside from a medic?

I think it's just that Valley is a poor map to release, it's too one-directional and there's really very little to no variation on what gameplay you can try. It's like Unreal Tournament and Assault mode but the maps in QW are too big and spread out so you don't get the feeling of an epic push/pull battle going on. The game seriously needs 64 players or something. A defending teams needs swarms of attackers to mow down. An attacking team needs large numbers to inch forward.

Downloading it right now. Is it anything like Tribes 2 at all (if any of you even played or have heard of that game)? I mean like can you deploy turrets, field bases, etc??

Guess i'll see for myself shortly..

Got bored of this quick. Never was a fan of these types of games (ie. Battlefield). Like others said, it's too busy and requires too much teamwork which is difficult to get with a bunch of strangers.

Wow.

I was impressed.

The beta sucked...hit boxes were off...lots of problems. Demo was 500% better.

I think I'm going to buy it now. Very fun.
