Sweet, that right there makes Facebook worthwhile.

Meh. I use facebook just because it allows me to keep in touch with ppl that I haven't seen in a really long time. For that it is great. Where you get into trouble with it, is when you start using it as a dating site. Looking for hook-ups and what not. Especially if you have a significant other, and they are in your circle of facebook friends.

I have to agree that I can't stand most of the applications on Facebook, so I won't be adding this one. I'd rather the Flames beat the Oilers on the ice, or if Oiler fans really wanted to show they are better- challenge us to some cause like pledges to the children's hospital or something.

As for why I like Facebook; it's not just a way to stay in touch with old friends and current friends, but it also allows me to keep all of my friends up to date with what is happening in my life. People who squeeze out new kids just put the pics on Facebook rather than emailing them out and filling up my mailbox.

And just today I saw a girl I work with on the bus. (I almost never take the bus.) Her conversation starter for me was "I saw on Facebook that you had a little bit of fun trying to go on vacation." instead of the common "hot enough for ya?"

It wasn't... though she never knew that. He hid it very well, then found an exgf on facebook.

Don't blame the website for that one. The guy is simply a fool and took the bait.

He's a fool alright...

Most of it is my own opinions on such sites, aloing with watching a good friend get completely devastated.

From my POV, the past is often best left in the past. Sites like Facebook offer too much chance for one's skeletons to come flying out of the closet, and there is no reason why email and IM aren't good enough for keeping in touch with those that are in your present.

YMMV

Well, with privacy settings, etc. Facebook gives you the opportunity to re-connect with those you want, and stay relatively anonymous to those you'd like to keep out of your life.

I recently joined and have re-connected with highschool friends I haven't spoken to in over 10 years... junior high and elementary friends I haven't heard from in over 13 years.

Facebook makes these types of re-connections much, much easier. Especially for some one like myself who was raised in Calgary, but ended up moving all over the place after highschool.

EDIT: I do agree with those who hate the over-doing of the applications though... there are people who have like 40+ different applications on their page... what for??!!
