When I brought my truck over the border, I was chatting with the border officer and I asked him why he thought there was such a price difference between the Canadian and American markets (our conversation was about cars, but I imagine you can apply this to all goods). His response was, "Us Canadians are stupid enough to pay the high prices". Although blunt, I would have to agree - until Canadian retailers realize how much business they are losing and keep their high prices, that difference will always exist.

Not that long ago it was the other way around. Because of the worthless Canadian dollar. Half the people I knew were driving loaded up trucks and shipping them south after 22,000 km. Some of those same guys are now buying trucks in the states, driving them for a couple months. And then selling them here for more than they paid state side.
