Just an FYI- in case you aren't comfortable going the eBay route, Wal-mart is now carrying pretty much every car charger under the sun, and the ones I was looking at were priced around $12.

Razor blades is a good one...
How about red/orange/yellow banana peppers? Freaking expensive compared to green peppers... and they're the ones I prefer!

And just the whole Telecomm/Cable industry as a whole - TV, internet, home phone and all.

You should get Virgin Mobile - all of that is free with any of their plans.

Eyeware.
Sunglasses, prescription eyeware and contact lenses are all way too expensive.
Women also cost far, far too much.

The thing I just don't get is why it costs so much more for more channels. Commercial free stuff like Movie Central I understand, but why does it cost more to add things like NHL Network, Discovery, etc? Those channels make their money from ad revenue, and the more people that have the channels; the more revenue they can generate.
I understand the bandwidth issue to a certain extent, but you'd think that these channels would be subsidising the cable companies to be sure they get included on the basic tiers.

A small steak at Joey Tomato's that is cooked medium well instead of medium rare. If I'm going to pay that much for a little piece of meat at least cook it right.

The growing season for the peppers you mention is much longer than for green peppers. And most yellow peppers are specialty peppers.

Hmm.. okay, I get the specialty peppers thing, but do you mean shorter growing season? A shorter season would lead to a smaller supply, meaning higher prices. But yeah, I didn't know that!

You can grow a green pepper in approximately 55 days. Most red or yellow peppers require 72 days. As such, the longer growing season dictates that more hours of labor in tending the peppers are now required as is water and fertilizer etc.
edit: I forgot to add that since red and yellow peppers take around 20 days longer to mature, that in turn means that the turnover rate for new crops is longer. Therefore, there will not be as many available over the period of one year. Hence, they cost more, cause the supply is not as abundant.

I think yellow/red peppers take longer to grow. So instead of being able to harvest every 60 days, they can only harvest every 100 days. (These numbers are just examples.)
Edit: Dang- too slow.

And by the way, most green peppers will turn red in time as they mature, BUT they are not the same red peppers that you like so much . The red peppers found in most grocery stores are a variety unto their own, with a much thicker wall which in turn allows them to absorb more water.
Why are red and yellow peppers sweeter than green peppers? It is not just the fact that they are different varieties in most cases. It is because they grow on the plant longer and therefore are exposed to more hours of sunlight and it is those hours in sunlight that produce the nice sweet taste.
Same thing as why tomatoes grown in Italy taste so much better than most tomatoes grown in Canada, with perhaps the exception of those grown in the far south of Ontario. It is the hours exposed to the sunlight.
Here in Canada, because our growing season is so much shorter, we grow varieties that are specifically developed for colder climates, shorter growing season. They grow well, they turn red and mature ok in most cases, they dont have that tomato flavor that you will recognize in the blink of an eye if you actually bite into one of the "old fashioned" varieties.
