I'm getting EQ2 today which looks alot better than WOW. I'll be playing on the Antonia Bayle server (RP preferred) if any of you guys want to hook up and slay a few

There has to be real player vs. player if I am gonna get into a game like that. EQ doesn't have that.

But they will AFTER release
Isn't that going to be like the sissy consentual stuff?

"Wouldst thou like to settle thine differences with a duel"
"Aye swine off with ye head"
*engages consentual duel mode*
"Thou shalt be beaten when you hit 25% health"
"yaaaaag good showing, I surrender my honor to thee"
Well WOW ain't the most satisfying PvP. I don't get much thrill over killing the same guy 15 times over again. The first one or two times maybe but it gets old fast. Also the guy just spawns back in 30 seconds anyways.

If you want good PvP - Guild Wars may be more your cup of tea.

Also the PvP hasn't been done yet in EQ2 so no one knows what it will entail. My guess is it will be similar to DAOC's Realm versus Realm wars.

EQ 1 and EQ2 are completely different games BTW. Many who played EQ1 don't like EQ2 as it appeals more to casual gamers this time. Every class is VERY balanced - the most balanced class structure I've ever seen. No more being shunned by groups for being a gimped class - those days are gone.

I played it last night and was trully amazed at the game world. I think they have a real winner on their hands.

I played the orginal EQ (or Evercrack as a few called it ) a few years ago, but couldn't justify the monthly fee, especially knowing that I would have to devote a lot of time to play to get where I wanted to be, or at least get to a point that was respectable. Basically to be able to play with all the nerds online that do little else leaves you with little time for real life. It's a shame cause I really like those games, and would probably love WoW, but there's no point when others spend 4-10 times more time on than you.
actually WoW is geared toward the Casual gamer, theres a level cap so no matter how much time someone spends playing they wont be better then you @ lvl 60.
Dear god, lvl 60? Yeah, like I have time for that.

I think the highest I got in EQ was lvl 13. Did it fairly quickly, but didn't have the time to continue the curve as the levels increase.

I know you're probably joking but for the sake of argument...

That would be even worse, I'd want the accomplishment of doing it myself. Besides to pay the ridiculous amounts some people do to basically a deed to electronic gibberish, it makes no sense.

I tend to agree, though I could see why someone would spend a few bucks to get some in game cash to save themselves the time of having to farm easy kills to get $$.

As for the curve, I'm level 15 already and I haven't been playing all that much. The game also lends itself to casual players since the longer you stay offline, the more "rested" you become. In a rested state, you get 200% experience for every kill. Stay offline for a few days, and next time you log in you'll be able to gain half your next level twice as fast!

Plus a significant portion of experience comes from quests rather than just killing. For example at level 15 killing a level 14 mob give me 80-90 exp. I need like 13,000 to get the next level. That's 144 kills. Or one quest can give me 900 exp. And the quests are pretty cool, lots of exploring involved. Some are annoying, requiring random drops, but most are pretty fun.

I quit EQ too because of the time requirement, but so far WoW isn't nearly as cruel.

Dara, lvl 60 isn't as tough as it sounds. Eventually you can get it and lower levels will be quite competent in pvp for a while.

Made the mistake of buying the game first day. Me and 250,000 other people. It *looks* like an awesome game, and I am sure it will be once Blizzard gets the 40 new servers they are adding online to accomodate the traffic.

Hehe yeah it was pretty bad last night. Today was fine though I haven't been online tonight yet.

Joind a big guild that a co-worker's son runs, so that I have a constant stream of hand-me-downs from powergamers

EDIT: And to compensate people for the lag, they are going to extend the free first month by a few days!

They seemed to have ironed out the server problems. I had no problems playing at all different times today.

I'm a Troll Shaman on Kel'Thuzad (Mountain Time server). Lv 15 so far...

I dunno, from an hourly entertainment point of view there's pretty much nothing else as cheap. Dinner and a movie for 1 costs more than 1 month of play.

I mean even if you only play an hour a day that's still less than $0.66/hour to play. Pretty cheap entertainment.
