It doens't matter there are more of those inside the phone. The reason the manufactures put that one behind the battery is so the sales people don't waste the money on shipping and wate the technicians time sending the phone away. However sometimes it doesn't always get wet but they will be able to tell once its open.

You can try sending it away but I know some places charge if it comes back with liquid or physical damage, depends who you have your phone through. If they ask if you got it wet be honest, else you are just wasting your time and everyone else.

I don't have a problem telling them it got wet... I just want to know if it can be fixed.

The problem is that about half of the buttons don't work. Otherwise there seems to be no damage to the phone. People have suggested it's still wet, or that some deposits crystallized, or even that something fried. I think it'll be fine if all it needs is to be opened and dried, or cleaned.... but if I need some sort of new keypad circuit it's better if I get a new phone.

Bake it in the sun for a bit (while its off) and see if that works. For future reference if its at all wet teh best thing to do is turn it off right away and let it dry for a bit. Most repair people will not accept wet phones because in order to repair them the problem could be one or more of a million different shorts within the phone. Therefore they would need to replace pretty much everything within the phone which after labour is involved will be valued at more than what a new phone would cost. I encourage you to send it in (via your dealer) but they will likely refuse to do that because of exactly that point.

I wish you the best of luck with this, but I unfortunately am not very optimistic.

So I called up a cell phone store and they said that the phones have lots of copper in them... so if it got wet then there might be some corrosion and the problems will only get worse. I'm not sure how much corrosion there can be after only one day...

I'm telling you, I had the same problem after soaking my phone in the washer. Just leave it alone for 3-5 days. Let it dry out on it's own time. Patience.
