I'm trying to switch my contact brand to a newer material. My doctor gave me Purevision to try, but I've found that they dry faster than my older contacts (Biomedics). Is this normal or is it just me? Also, I've learned from the other thread we had a while back that Acuvue Advance is cheaper than Purevision... so is there a difference between the two? Is one better than the other?
I've had purevision extended wear for a good 3 years now with no issues. Love waking up in the morning and being able to see. I think contacts come down to personal preference and if one brand works for you, stick with them.

I've also used clearlycontacts, good fast service.

Personally... this is the way i rank the new materials...... based on what i generally fit for contacts. Now not every person is the same, so this is based on the majority.

based on comfort (most comfortable to least comfortable)

Acuvue Oasys
O2 Optix
Focus Night and Day
Acuvue Advance
Purevision

based on price (most expensive to least expensive for a year supply) -- varies from place to place...

Focus Night and Day
Acuvue Oasys
Purevision
Acuvue Advance
O2 Optix

If you are looking to wear the lense overnight... go with Focus Night and Day.... if you work in a real dry, dusty environment... go with Oasys....

If you need astigmatism correction.... i rank them like this...

Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism
O2 Optix for Astigmatism
Purevision Torics

If you need multi focal lenses (over 40)....

only choice is Purevision MF .... works great!!

I haven't tried all of those brands, but I do know I used to only be able to handle wearing contacts for 4 hours at the maximum. With Acuvue Oasys I can make it 16-18 hours without a problem (not that I like to make a habit of it).

I may have to talk to my doctor about trying a pair of them. My one set of contacts for the left eye is great by the frequency lense I have to wear in my right eye annoys the out of me if I wear it for more than a couple hours at a time.
