I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I was in a High River stampede parade float with my beaver troupe when I was five..what a highlight!!!

That one's a great one to go to! Even if it's not a pro tour rodeo, small town rodeos are a great time. For most small towns it's their big event of the year.

Well for those who think everyone downtown doesn't work. I have my full day of stuff, if I have to go to an event chances are I don't really want to go and if we start drinking (I'd do it mostly to kill the pain of having to be social) I still have to be at work the next day on time.

There are also a few events I have to go to at night time. So, Stampede for me - I'm spending more time doing more work stuff.

I'd rather take off at 4:00 - 5:00 and go home to do things I'd acutally like to get done after work.

We actually have 2 of them.

The Guy Weadick and the Little Britches rodeo.

Wow both those names could be interpreted quite differently and hilariously.

I was always under the impression you either wear western wear or your regular uniform (dress code), I've never had any pressure ..

Not me, I go jeans, sneakers and soccer jerseys for Stampede week. I've yet to encounter anyone with the balls to tell me that my dress is unacceptable while the dork in the office beside me wearing a hat and some god awful plaid flannel shirt and pointy boots some how meets dress code.

I was under the impression that many cowboys who compete in the Calgary Stampede also participated in the rodeo at High River, due to it's proximity (time and location).

No tyranny where I work, though the company has no problem with people ignoring dress codes this week.

I do love our stampede breakfast though. Nothing quite like burnt eggs cooked by the CEO and pancakes where the batter was mixed with an industrial size DeWalt drill attachment.

I love it. Ten days of straight partying and the Globe calls it "tyranny". This is my favourite time of year. This is the first Stampede working downtown and the atmosphere is amazing. I'm looking forward to the corporate parties and the bands at night.

The only bad thing is my legs are killing me as I've been wearing cowboy boots to events since Wednesday. I really do need to invest in a better pair.
