Did you hear about the storm chasers who drove 23 hours straight from Kansas to Winnipeg and caught that F4 tornado last night?

Imagine if that storm had fallen apart...

The likelihood of it falling apart yesterday was pretty slim. They were sure supercells were going to form, even prompting tornado watches before a single storm started to build.

I would was considering going as well, but a prior engagement prevented me.

Interesting day developing so far. Had marble and pea sized hail down by my place in the south earlier. Storms are really slow moving. We've actually been really lucky the system parked just east of Strathmore. Another 50 Km west and we would be seeing flooding similar to the June 5th storm.

This was a strange one. Light rain coming from Costco South until we got past Acadia Drive, then it started coming down hard. Continued on Heritage, where it looked like it hailed in the intersection of MacLeod and Heritage only. No hail before, no hail after (NB Macleod), only at that intersection, where the exit ramp to NB Macleod was flooded out. Lights all over the place were on four way flash.

Some really impressive lightning as well.

Haha it's about time the NW got spared. Nothing but a few showers and a bit of wind so far.

Looks like we are well on our way to yet another brutal summer, weather wise. I can count on one hand the amount of hot days we have had in spring and our short summer so far. Soon enough it will be snowing and will wonder where our summer went.

Oh well, I have grown accustomed to less than desirable/crap weather in this city throughout the year(winter, fall, spring and summer) in my opinion. Have to grin and bear it, i guess.

I dont mind rain, if it is pouring and 20+ degrees. But when it has been raining here, its barely 10 degrees at times. I actually like rain, i just dont like the lack of high degree temperatures.

Oh well, i guess there is no point in ranting and complaining, not like weather here in Calgary will ever be good for me. I just have to wait for a good career opportunity in a different city.

OMG, it isn't even July or August yet.

June is the rainiest month for Calgary, at least wait until August before you start announcing that we missed the summer.

That is true, but the point of my post was that our Spring was not desireable either, imo. It was a Spring/summer comment.

After the June we had 2 years ago, I'm de-sensitized. The weather has been absolutely beautiful this spring, and that's coming from a guy who loves hot, sunny weather.

How are the monthly precip numbers stacking up compared to June 2005?

I have to agree with you on that, with the desensitized comment. I have not yet got to that point yet. I still love and always will want hot, humid, steamy weather, day and night. I have AC, so would love warm nights as well, to go along with hot days.

Since moving back to Calgary years ago, i just miss hot days and warm nights.
