Back in HS I was given the nickname Hawkeye. Appropriately named after Hawkeye Pierce from MASH.

Rye. Apparently there are too many Ryan's in the world so everyone started calling me Rye, which also happens to be my favorite hard liqour.

I've had a few:
Clutch - Soccer team as a kid, because I always scored that clutch goal, stuck with me when I blew my first clutch on my car....
Duck - I used to work as a dock loader (loading buses and semi-trucks) and there was always so much crap that bosses dumped on us, as well as other guys there whose lives were always "so hard" that whenever 'it' hit the fan, I just shrugged it off and kept working. My boss said that "##### rolls off him like water off a Duck's back."
Quags - Rugby. Dont want to talk about it.

Lil'un, Munchkin, Midget - I'm short. Not much else to that.
Boo Boo - Man do I ever regret this one, and it was my own fault too. I'd pulled an all nighter to finish a paper, so I showed up to school with about 1 hour of sleep and 2 cups of coffee. By about lunch, I was completely out of it and accidentally blurted out, "Boo Boo needs a nap." None of my friends have ever let me live it down.
Helener - My boss is chinese with an accent, so he can't say Helena, which is my name, properly. So that's what my coworkers called me and it some how caught on, now everyone calls me that.

Hmm... Not too many. Funnily enough, when your name is Gunnar, people don't see much of a need for a nickname.

Hell, if Jordon's name was really Gunnar, he wouldn;t get the same grief.....

You're from Calgary and you know a guy named Gunnar......
Where did you go to high school?
I've met lots of people with that name--but they were all in Iceland, not Calgary.
As for breaks, there's some of that. People generally either say "cool name" or "no, no. What's your REAL name?"

I was called "Waddles" in highschool by some of my friends because of the way I walk. I should have found it very offensive but I thought it sounded funny. Better than "Crazy Legs" like one guy tried calling me.

Lately, I'm trying to get people to call me "7" because it rhymes with my real name, but the real reason is so I'd be able to write my name really quickly.
edit: it's because of George's name for his baby on Seinfeld. Brilliant.

My current running nickname is Jibs. It is derived from my name, Joel, and my distain and many rants about the Liberals. Short for Joel the Liberal.
Have gone thru a few lately: Greybush, Chewy, Liberal. All made with the deepest admiration from my friends... wait a second...
Very interesting thread by the way.

T
T-Money
Money
I was trying to talk like Snoop Dogg (and failing at it) so my friend mockingly called me T-Money and it stuck.
Tivo
T-Bone
I work in IT and the guys at work called me Tivo, one guy didn't think it truly fit me so he started calling me T-Bone because he thought it sounded "meaner" for me.
and of course, Buff.
Back when I was 18 or 19 I worked out an awful lot and I was looking quite good. I went with a couple of guys to the gym all the time and we ran into a guy we went to high school with and that guy was surprised at how well I was looking and said that I was really Buff (no he wasn't hitting on me). My friend found it funny and started to call me Buff... and this was a couple of years before the wrestler started calling himself Buff Bagwell (but I did steal his play on the name Buff... Buff The Stuff, Buff Daddy, etc.)

I try to get people to call me Plexico. For the most part it doesn't work.
Shades McCool or Portnoy are the only ones I get called regularly. The first one because I wear loud sunglasses inside all the time and the second one because my drumset is way too big.
Never been a nicknamed guy though, really.
