I like pudding!
(Does that answer your question?)
Seriously, yes. My concussion affected my short term memory. It was 5 years ago, and I think yesterday was the first time since the accident that I've been able to go shopping for more than 5 items without a list, and actually remember to get everything. (I actually needed 10 things, and got them all.)

Hey guys,
Thanks for the advice, I had actually left CP last night just before some of the response came in. I took a Tylenol and stayed up for about another hour where I went and looked in the bathroom and my pupils had returned to similar sizes (Thank God). So then I continued to go to sleep and now this morning things seem better but I have a slight pain at the right side of my head. I am going to go see a doctor this afternoon to make sure everything is fine and dandy. Thanks for all of your concern though, it really makes one feel better!

My last good headshot was 5 years ago, and I still get dizzy when I do anything that raises my heart rate. And when I get the least bit tired, my memory goes and I get incredibly irritable, and I get headaches.
Just wondering if I'm alone.

...not quite to that extent, but if I'm doing running where I would be thumping heavily, my head starts to hurt over the vibrations. On ice I'm the first to avoid a hit nowadays or get caught with my head down. But nothing for memory loss (I don't recall).
Update on condition yet?
Edit: Good to hear everything's alright...get rest and don't exert yourself for a good month

I had a pretty good one when I was in my teens ... amnesia for about a 10 hour period following. I'm all right now though, except for a left eye tick ... and some slurred speach. Oh ya, and those little "issues" that tend to crop up around the time of the full moon.
Just kidding. I haven't noticed any lingering effects to my memory or motor skills or anything like that. Maybe because I was young when it happened, or because I haven't had repeated conscussions afterwards.

Just spoke to the health link thing, they are REALLY helpful and nice. She did some exam over the phone and told me to go see a doc within 4 hours so I am on my way now!

Good luck ... I hope you don't have to sit around too long. It's best to get it checked for sure though. My wife is an RN who worked at the Foothills neuro unit for umpteen years. She saw many patients who incurred what seemed like innocent, minor injuries, only to have them go bad after ignoring them for a week or so. Better safe that's for sure.

I had a few concussions. One I was seeing stars for a week but as a dumb kid, I never told anybody. My short term memory isn't that good and when I get tired my brain wants to shut done. I dont jump often but when I do I get light headed, not a good feeling.

2) There is some weird memory things that go on... for some reason peoples names always escape me, however, numbers and usless facts i can recalll years later.
3) Saturday and Sunday mornings i seem to wake up with Headaches a lot of the time.

Sometimes I'll black out and when I come to, I am naked in my backyard, covered in peanut butter howling at the moon and throwing my own poop around. Other than that, no real issues.

haha, I laughed at that, thinking you had a concussion that made you forget an entire year of H.S.
Then it came to me that you didn't mean this as a joke, and you actually went to a 3 year H.S.
I've had a few concussions in my dad. The latest one was I remember getting the hit (a nice open ice hit in a no contact rec league). I wasn't knocked out or anything but that is all I remember of the game, then I sort of "woke up" in the dressing room. I couldn't remember anything about the game.
The next day I asked some of the guys what happened and none of them knew. Said I played through the game just like normal.

Yah, I still have one issue from a massive concussion when I was a teen: apparently I zone out when talking for a period of time--like telling a story--but I don't notice it I randomly stop talking and freeze for a couple o fseconds then keep going right on like nothing happened. The thing is, I don't realize it happens...but it does infuriate a few people I know So now I refuse to tell even a short story.

I got hit in the head with a baseball bat when I was about 9 years-old. I'm not sure how serious the concussion was but I remember going to Children's and having to be put in a wheelchair because I couldn't stand on my own and I was vomiting every 5 seconds.
I have a pretty bad short term memory but that could also be due to carelessness and the fact that I'm somewhat of a heavy drinker.

Whenever you vomit when you have a concussion then it is pretty severe. The real question is, for those of you who still have concussion problems, had you been able to act sooner could these have been prevented?
By the way, saw a doctor, got an xray and everything seems to be ok, just no sports for the next monthish.

Got to this thread a bit late...glad to hear everything worked out. For future reference, though, Tylenol was a bad idea. Straight from my Wilderness First Aid Handbook: "Do not administer pain medications (see Use of Drugs section) - this may mask deterioration of a significant brain injury.

I was concussed only once, and that was playing rugby. Got kneed in the side of the head and, after being taken off the field ('cos I didn't know where I was!), I 'woke up' arriving at hospital. No long-term problems -- just no rugby for 2 weeks (which meant I missed out to trial for the Scottish Schools rugby team )
