I may end up sticking to the Keg or Montana's or something.
It doesn't neccessarily have to be steak, seafood would be good too, but I'm restaurant ignorant enough that can't think of anything besides Red Lobster. It's not that I don't fancy a fancy restaurant (River Cafe was amazing), but my dad's into simple food and I'm into saving money on account of unemployment.

I have never been myself, but I've heard good things about Reef n' Beef in Sunridge. Supposed to be good food, laid back atmosphere and reasonable prices.

Actually, he's making a transition to grass fed from organic. I've read a whack of studies on it, and not only is grass fed better for you (high in Omega 3's) it's leaner (same fat content as a skinless chicken breast).
If you're interested I could keep it in mind, but he doesn't slaughter until around September.

Always going to be a Nick's steakhouse fan myself. The one across from McMahon Stadium. About $20 a plate.

My rankings:
1. Vintage Chophouse on 12th Ave.
2.Tribute resurant on Stephen Avenue
3. Ceasars
4. The Bear's Den in Bearspaw
I left out Hy's because it's closed for a year as it goes under major renovations.

What are the prices like at Vintage? From the other threads, sounds a little snobbish, pricey, and some people have had problems there.

This won't help anytime soon, but in December a Ruth's Chris Steak House will be opening up. Definitely the best steak I've ever had anywhere.

Even though I haven't lived in Calgary for a long long time, I'm glad to hear Caesars is still going, it was always my favourite place for steak.

If you want seafood try Oceana's restaurant - it is on 4st and 16ave sw - just a block away from 17ave sw... AMAZING seafood there, and not too pricey either.

Oceana used to be on 4th St and 18th Ave SW.
Its now in the old LeCaille location by the bow river.

I've had Ruth Chris in Edmonton and it wasn't as good and also priced very high. I believe this is because they use American Prime instead of Canadian Prime.
