Yah, this is really good from my experience. My wife LOVES tulips. Absolutely loves them. A thing of tulips - you can get them at a grocery store for 5 10 bucks type of thing does wonders. She thinks it is the greatest thing.

The scrapbook idea is EXCELLENT!

I did this too. My wife (well then girlfriend) was moving away from school, and at that point, I wasn't moving with her. I made her one of these with stuff like you mentioned (movie tickets we saw, things unique to our relationship, etc etc). One of the best gifts ever, I think....

Another idea is to buy a good handful of sticky notes, and then write on them different things you like about her, things you have enjoyed, etc. And then "stickie" her entire room or something. I've done this, and it is great as well. She has to go around and pull them all off, reading them one by one.....

If she feels the same way, she will remeber you even if all you leave her is an old T-shirt of yours.

Now, back to the real world. This will sound cheesy, but you should sit down and think hard about the types of things she really likes. Even if your gift is not personalized, having paid attention and showing that you know the person goes a long way.

I know I can never go wrong if I buy my GF jewelry. If you are not ready for the ring, but can afford diamonds, how about one of those circle diamond pendants?

Or how about a plane ticket to Canada for this summer or something?

I personally don't like the idea of mix tapes/CDs, but it's probably due to my age. Something with the photos seems nice. How about an icarus bobblehead doll or a figurine of the two of you:

As a female, I'm going to say the photos idea is a good one. Either a scrapbook or a bunch of photos in a frame that holds a bunch of pictures. Put some thought into where you had the most fun together and go from there.

as a girl I agree with the homemade gift idea. and I also personally hate stuffed animals. the best gift I ever got was "the giving tree" by Shel silverstein, it was my favourite book as a child.
