Ah collectibles, I see. I thought that maybe you like practise sword play or carry it around the neighbourhood inflicting vigilantly ninja justice to insolent pet owners and the like.

I recall hearing that by grabbing the loose skin where the back of the head and neck meet and pulling really hard the dog is forced to open it's mouth. Not sure if that will work on a pit bull, but I would be trying my hardest to get that dog to let go, whatever the means.

They're awesome, awesome dogs. Reggie is right though, some of them can get a little wierd once they hit about 4 years old. Fearless around other dogs, even when they snap at him.
"Nelson" is a little hard to handle, but he's not as bad as he was. Good luck stopping him if he starts chasing something though, he'd run through a fence if there was a rabbit on the other side.

No, just to collect. I do some Tameshigiri (Test cutting) in the garage every now and then. But I respect my blades.

Unless there is a pirate nearby. Then it is ON!

Ever try catching a Jack Russell on the lam?

Train him to lie down when you whistle really loud. That's the only thing that's worked for me; it seems to break his concentration long enough for him to figure out I'm pissed that he's chasing a tennis ball towards an open street. A good friend of mine lost his JRT when it blazed across 2 lanes of traffic chasing something, and got hit on the way back.
They're insanely smart, so I've found training to be quite easy but you need to be consistent or they'll figure out that they only need to listen most of the time. Mine won't listen to a frickin word my G/F says, and only uses her for attention when he's lonely or hungry.

Sad story. At least the owner was reasonable about the incident. I don't have much sympathy for the owners who want to keep their dogs who have attacked people or other animals.

I don't know how reasonable he was. He knew these dogs were bad news before this incident and "reasonable" would have been to send them to Our Father Who Art At The Vet's Office so this wouldn't happen. These kids are probably traumatized and their dog is dead - killing this moron's animals now won't change that, although it is good that they are dead.
I don't understand why people need or even want these dogs. Like what is going through someone's head that makes them want an intimidating dog? Since about 90% of the people I see walking around with pit bulls and mastiffs are young men intimidation must be a big part of it. You should have to go through some sort of course if you insist on owning a dog or dogs like this. You should have to go to a psychiatrist if you need a scary dog to make yourself look tough and you like making people nervous.

you hit the nail on the head, Rouge. There are a lot of wannabe tough guys out there who have some ridiculous need to intimidate people. Unfortunately for the animals, any moron can buy a big dog and make it act mean.

Honestly, I foster dogs and I fostered a brendel pitbull that I called Odin and he was probably the sweetest dog I ever took care of besides my own. He was insanely hyper and tore up my entire house but he still was the sweetest thing. It really is how they are raised. Unfortunately, the majority of people who get pits are young guys who get it for intimidation reasons, so they are raised badly. I do agree that a course should be taken to adopt one.

Isn't that dog the same breed as Eddie on Frazier? I love that dog. Love how they trained to do his little bits in the show. Some of his scenes were hilarious. "Eddie" died recently.
