After much deliberation, I think RedHot is technically and politically correct. But, we do not live in a technically nor a politically correct world, and therefore I am the winner, because it seems I am in the majority.

However, I have to ask you, RedHot -- What day is "Last Saturday" -- yesterday, or last week?

How about if I ask you "Is it the third left turn?" and you reply, "no, it's the next one." am I to take it that 1st left turn or the 4th left turn?
You just drive, I'll sit in the back and tell you when to turn. No talking from the help

I think you're right. Your sister's overly technical analysis, without any understanding of practicalities that has previously been pointed out in this thread, make her perfect for a job within the government.

This is the reason why I always make it clear if it is the coming Sunday or the sunday after that. Usually, I will say Next Sunday and also add not the Sunday coming up but the sunday after. However, when someone says Next Sunday to me I will ask which Sunday it is, because I am also unsure of what THEY mean.

Yesterday, of course!

Anyways, I know I am in the minority on here, and I think generally in the 'real world' as why. Hence why I usually always clarify things with people.

I would say last week. Yesterday is saturday. ie: We went for drinks on saturday.

but when you say we are going for drinks on saturday it means the 28th.

If I was referring to may 5th i would say next saturday we are going for drinks but thats just me.

it all depends on the tense in the conversation pre tense and it is the week after if you are past the day. ie: next wednesday on a friday is a week and a half away
