Same here.

I can't personally change my oil because my mid-engined car requires a lift to get access, so I always use an oil-change as a bit of an inspection opportunity. But the timing works out nicely, as I tend to only put around 2-3k on my car a year, so it coincides well with the end-of-season service.

But man, if I ever walked out with only spending $40-50 bucks for an oil change, I would be doing the happy dance.

Even with my wifes Volvo, I still would rather take it to a specialty mechanic (Mr. Volvo!) as it's an opportunity to look over the car in other ways. The guys at Jiffy Lube don't really do that (or atleast, they do it with a really broad brush).

One of my gripes has always been that somehow Jiffy Lube style places, have managed to make themselves warranty compliant. They will throw a guy into the pit at those places on day one with no experience. And you really don't save anything but time if you use OEM recommended lunbricants and filters. 90% of dealers bundle their Oil Changes and you really shouldn't be paying much more than $120 for a basic oil/filter service using synthetic.
