Becky,

Give the Oasys a few more days, but if you still find that you can see the edge most likely the lens fits too loose for you and moves around when you look side to side. If that is the case, go to the Acuvue Advance lens that comes in two sizes.... similiar benefits, just tends to dry out more at the end of the day as compared to Oasys.

I find that when I hit the 30 day on my night & day lenses I feel a downturn in quality. maybe thats just a placebo, but i usually get rid of them after a month.

"Systane" if you done wear lenses....

"Blink" if you do...

The problem with Visine/clear eyes is that it only constricts the blood vessels temporarily, and when the drop wears off you get a rebound redness that is actually worse than the initial redness.

The two i mentioned above are lubricant drops that help actually solve the problem of dry eyes, instead of just concealing the redness.

sure am!

Used to wear contacts for years. Does anyone still wear hard lenses? My first pair of contacts were hard and man oh man were they ever a pain. Soft lenses are the only way to go if you still have to wear them

We still fit some hard lenses... mostly to those who have had botched Laser surgeries, have warped Corneas or those that have worn them for a long time.

The Optics in people with astigmatism or high nearsightedness/farsightednes is actually better out of a hard lens.

Long story short..... Soft lenses are most new fits... but hard still have a place.

I've been planning on getting contacts for a while now. I had an eye appointment last night, and was going to get fitted for contacts after, but alas, it was almost 7:00; I had somewhere to be.

I'll be getting them in the next week or so.

question for you Hesla, do you think the cost of Laser eye surgery will ever come down enough that it will replace the uses of contact lenses and glasses or do you think it will remain in that "higher" price range for some time to come? They have it so simplified now that you are in and out in 15 minutes so why the huge costs still

I hope you dont mind me picking your brain since you've been so helpfull here to others.

I have astigmatism and I hear there are some better toric(sp?) lenses out there now, I last got my disposables 1 year ago and wear them pretty sporadically. I have really bad eye sight, my left eye I guess is at a point where with my contacts I don't seem to get near 20/20, pretty close but noticable.

Anyhow I really had a lot of use/abuse when I was younger with contacts, I wore them heavilly from 15-26 till when I started wearing glasses almost all the time.

I've been really debating the laser eye surgery and was wondering what your thoughts are, my astimatism is pretty bad and since contacts seem to have issues with my level of bad eyesight I thought this might be the way to go for me.

Just love to hear your thoughts on this, am I wrong in the assumption that contacts can only help so much if the eyesight is getting that bad?

It has come down quite significantly at the higher end places... At Gimble for instance you can get both eyes lasered for about 3500 including all pre and post op stuff. Go higher end if you are going to get it done though.... i know that it used to be about 2500 an eye... the problem is that the machines they use have to be replaced at least every year, and those cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. So long story short... the price probably wont come down significantly. I know they have financing plans and the such.. so that you pay monthly if that would help.

Thor: There are newer astigmatism lenses out there, but it really depends on your prescription. Acuvue Advance for Astigmatism and O2 Optix for Astigmatism are toric lenses that also have high Oxygen transference, which esentially means you do not harm the eyes by wearing them over 14 hrs a day. The Acuvue lenses come in as high as -2.75 astigmatism.... So that would probably be the better option for you... PM me or ask away for more details.

Okay, I wore them for the required 4 hours today, and while inside, they were a slight bother, but as soon as I got outside, I didn't feel a thing. Now it is humid outside, so I assume the dry conditions inside a building would be the bother.

I'll check out these eye drops you recommended Hesla.

And my eye doctor told me to go to Gimbl if I was Laser eye surgery done....I believe you also recommended them Hesla. But I should wait 3-4 more years.

I had my laser eye surgery done at Gimbel (sp) and they were great, in and out with no problems. I didn't have th option for Lasek and had to go with the PRK (you think your contacts are uncomfortable you should try the week after PRK). Cost me about 1000 an eye and was worth every penny

P.S. cold air always felt so refreshing on my eyes while wearing contact lenses

+1 for Clear Care and Oasys lenses. I used to only be able to wear my lenses for 4 hours without total irritation until I switched to those two.

My eye kinda looks like the one Hesla posted anyways, just not quite that bad. And I've never been a contact abuser...

Aye, I'll have to keep a watch out.

The most I've worn them has been 4 hours, so we'll see tomorrow.

The only advice I can give you as far as contract lenses go NEVER EVER BUY FRESHLOOKS.

You should talk to your optometrist before putting ANY eye drops in your eyes, because I was told that you should avoid using eye drops.
