Seems like I only get dragged out for dim sum after a night of heavy drinking. Looking at those jiggling balls of gooey dough is NOT what the doctor ordered for a hangover. I can't even think about dim sum anymore.

There was only 1 at the time anywhere near the apartment that I lived in... the wait time, if u get there around 10 or so... it fills up quickly and we waited as long as 3 hours before.

I'ts not a big surprise, but Vancouver Dim Sum absolutely puts Calgary's prices and quality to shame. Prices in Van generally NEVER exceed $4, and are usually in the 2-3 dollar range. Lots of great places, lots of competition fighting for the same clientelle. I don't find the prices in Calgary to be ridiculously expensive, but on the same hand prices in Van are insanely cheap.

I went for Dim Sum at 530am in Hong kong back in October. Crazy uncle. Never doing that again. hehe. MSG that early in your system is not a good thing.

Hey also the Cultural Centre Restaurant reopened last week for Dim Sum. Actually it was pretty good and the prices are the cheapest in the city again.

My friend's uncle owns (owned?) that place. I'm not sure if he still owns or runs it.

It was the best dim sum place in town by a country mile while he ran it, but I haven't been there in literally years - it got so ludicrously popular, I couldn't get a table in reasonable time.

no it's a completely different owner. It's totally renovated. A bit too yellow for my liking. The ENTIRE restaurant is yellow(hehe gold) now!!

The dim sum is better than before but I never used to like it there before.

I love dim sum, and I think it's a great value- the food is fresh and tasty. Three of us absolutly gorged ourselves and it was $30 at the Silver Dragon.

Is that the Silver Dragon at the end of the C-Train station downtown? My wife and I dined there about 12 years ago on Valentines day and the Cook/Owner made us a special made to order dinner. I have never had better Western Chinese food before or since. We tipped big time that night.

There is... u just have to know which ones they are. They are small amounts of shark fin in shark fin soup. It is tough to describe, but I do know which stuff is the REAL Shark fin, which is the fake.

Hehe just had it on Sat!

The lady at the Regency was impressed when I ordered everything in Chinese except chicken feet. Can't remember chicken feet though - "Fung Jao"???

Funny thing is my Asian girlfriend doesn't like chicken feet, so I had the whole thing to myself!

Chicken Feet's awesome, one of my fav's actually. That along with the duck feet, I always get. I actually really like the tripe too. But I never get full eating dim sum. It's good in the beginning, but it's so greasy that I get tired of it pretty quick.

But yah, it's expensive in Calgary. Actually, food in general is more expensive in Calgary than in other places, I find. Food in Vancouver and Toronto's suprisingly cheaper.

You should go see the movie "Sharkwater". If you can watch that movie, and still eat sharkfin soup, then you likely have no soul.
