He's really put a great stretch together recently, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Catch Me if you Can, The Departed and Blood Diamond.

He's getting the roles Scorsese would have used DeNiro for back in the day, and that speaks alot to his acting abilities.
You're missing Basketball Diaries, I thought he was very good in that one.

It was Romeo and Juliet plus Titanic that put him into the teen heartthrob status that everyone here seems to hate.

Such a great film, Gangs of New York. Almost anyone I talk to didn't like it. One of the most beautifully shot movies I've ever seen. It should have won the Oscar for cinematography if it didn't.

Leo was good, but you're right...Daniel Day-Lewis WAS Bill the Butcher. I will own the DVD someday soon I think.

LOL. I don't remember him being on Growing Pains and didn't know till you just posted this. I used to watch the show when it was on but haven't seen it since the end of its run.

I pretty much agree with everyone else that Blood Diamond was a great movie with great acting. Leo's on a roll too. The last 5 movies he's done have been Oscar calibre movies. He should've won an Oscar for something but will probably get one eventually.

I agree 110%

Just saw this today.

Great movie, and very emotional for me.

I wasn't even aware that diamonds posed such a problem.

It sure opened my eyes to the diamond problem.

How this didn't win Oscar for best picture is beyond me.

Yeah, I enjoyed Blood Diamond too. Pretty provocative movie that had my wife pretty upset.

TIA eh Danny?

I also agree that DiCaprio has made some pretty solid choices in terms of roles lately.

Agree that blood diamond was excellent, better than I was expecting. Had just seen Departed which was good, but just good.

I don't know how a Rhodesian accent differs from South African, but it was a great South African accent. At one point there (when he was going make make the first illegal diamond buy) I believe he was talking Afrikaans, and did a great job.

And for the guy that mentioned Babel as a great movie--with respect, I thought it was brutal. An overly idulgent, way too long, ego flick. Glad someone liked it.

I enjoyed this movie, although didn't find it that emotional. I thought Dicaprio was better in this movie than he was in The Departed but overall The Departed was a much better movie.

I guess that would be tough to explain. Put another way, is this a really bad Rhodesian accent?
It was pretty good in some parts but he lost it a few times especially in the shouting scenes. I have a mate from Zimbabwe and his accent is just like DiCaprios but just deeper. Credit to Leo, he really is becoming a great actor.

I too really enjoyed this movie. His accent was a little out there, but maybe im just not sure what an african accent is supposed to be?!

We watched Blood Diamond and Babel on the same night. Babel was a pretty good movie too.

Dimonds... definatly makes me give a second thought to what I'd be giving whenever I'm ready to propose.
What movies has he done that gave him a bad rep? I've always thought he has taken on quite mature roles for his age, no matter when. He did a great job in Basketball Diaries.

And yeah, conflict diamonds are definitely something that everyone should avoid.

I always thought The Beach was pretty cheesy.

Just wait till they start asking for allegedly clean Canadian diamonds.... at a 30% markup of course..... doh!

Can't they covet consumer electronics like the male species?

Yup, great movie.

As much as I dispised Titanic, Caprio has some damn good movies under his belt.

Just watched this last night, I thought it was a great movie.
The time period was definitely ten years ago. When they are sitting at the bar the girl makes the comment. "Wars going on all over and all the news shows is the president getting blown"

I thought the scene where the child soldiers came out and introduced themselves with their new names was one of the most bone chilling scenes I have ever seen.

I am "Baby Killer"
I am "Master of Disaster"
etc

The Beach was a brutal movie because it is a book about English backpackers. They could have easily cast that accordingly.

Another good one for people to catch is Last King of Scotland.
