ha well in all honesty what I have watched Moncton will win - they have really been carrying the play, and if not for Yetteman this is over.

Ouch - delay of game (shooting the puck over the glass) on Moncton. Mooshead power play, although you would never know with Moncton getting the scoring chance there....

Moncton killed the penalty, hopefully that means a call against Halifax is coming up.

I haven't been this on edge for a non-Eagles QMJHL game in a while. If Monctno wins the odds of me getting to Moncton for games 3 & 4 are greater than getting to Bathurst.

I also would prefer the Eagles to play the Cats in round 2 over the Titan

And of course I hate the Moose more than I do the Oilers or Canucks haha

Really? In all fairness it wasn't a "cheap" call - in the sense that the guy clearly shot it over the boards. Those are the rules. Not like he decided to call one team for say tripping or something...

Oh I know what you mean, but I find referees try to keep the calls even regardless.

2OT

this is a real good game

yah i've just watched the last bit of OT...Halifax looks REALLY gassed.

No Suchy either on defence for them.

(this is weird I never was this "into" junior hockey in Calgary....but here it just seems a lot more fun. I don't think its "Maritime specific" per se....just small(er) centres, where it is the top hockey game in town, makes for a great atmosphere/fun!)

they play Lewiston in Round 2... don't expect many wins in the second round, I can see Lewiston and Cape Breton both winning in 4 or 5

reason enough to be happy they made it through... I guess there's a brightside to everything

I'm just wondering if I can swing a roadtrip to Bathurst, that's much more complicated than Moncton... but I suppose still do-able.

Here's the playoff tree in Round 2:

Isn't your tree missing a branch? There only seems to be room for 3 rounds.

Great game last night, I ended up missing alot of the Flames game because of double OT.

GO MOOSE!

why you are indeed correct, I'll get right on that

and I too watched the game, 2OT was exciting, but I was hoping to go to Moncton next week

I'll add the finals at the bottom when the time comes

well folks, Round 2 gets underway in 2 hours. I'll get to see my first live playoff game this season, first live Eagles playoff game in 3 years I believe (gotta love living away).

Bathurst's first line is an offensive powerhouse, with the snipers finishing 2 and 3 in regular season scoring, as well as a second line built for the playoffs. Their goaltending is questionable, which means if it gets hot lookout, but if it's not the series could be over in 4.

The other Eastern division matchup Lewiston and Halifax. If Halifax plays like a solid unit they might give Lewiston a go. I figure that series will be over in 4 or 5. Maineiacs should be too much for the Mooseheads, and Bernier ~should~ be able to outplay Yettman any day of the week. But in the playoffs I've seen odd things happen (hell I saw Edmonton make the finals last year on hot goaltending of Dwayne Roloson, who's a good goalie, but THAT good?!)

Eagles/Titan (or the Eags and Tits if you will) is on Eastlink Television's webcast at http://www.eastlink.ca/eltv/ELTV_WebCasting/webcast.ram

Holy Macaroni

Just got back from the Eagles/Titan game. Eagles were a force defensively, their forecheck just never stopped. For the Canucks fans reading this (if there are any) Bourdon is amazing. I lost track of how many times I said "wow Bourdon is amazing". The Thrashers goaltending prospect Ondrej Pavalec was on fire. Didn't have to make many saves, but he came up huge on the few good chances Bathurst got. Wild prospect James Sheppard is a dominant force on the ice. No one could knock the puck off this kid, he'll be a joy to watch in the NHL (unfortunately against the Flames). Almost forgot to mention it was a 3-0 final for Cape Breton.

Lewiston's leading Halifax 8-4 with 52 seconds reminaing (for RedHot25 and Halifax Drunk when they announced the Mooseheads were leading the Maineiacs 1-0 after the first it was very eerie to hear the sell-out crowd in Sydney cheer).

At the start of the 3rd Rouyn-Noranda is leading Drummondville 5-2. It's the Western Division which I admittedly don't know much about other than Val d'Or is the team to beat.

Go Moose Go! Here's to a good butt kicking

I listed a bit to the game, and going into the start of the 3rd it was only 5-4 Lewiston. But then Lewiston got a penalty shot something like 34 seconds in, scored, and....it was all downhill from there.... .

Just crawling out of bed now.

Eagles spanked Bathurst 8-3 last night. After a dominating 1st period, the Titan came out strong in the second, and took advantage of some sloppy play by Cape Breton to go up 3-2. Pascal Vincent (Cape Breton's coach) called a time out, and the Eagles were flying from that point on scoring 5 unanswered goals. James Sheppard took a pass off a faceoff win during the start of a 4 on 4 for go through three Titan players and slide the puck between Tardif's legs. The Eagles then took the lead with just under 30 seconds to go in the 2nd. The Eagles then had three short handed goals to close out the third. Mind you one of them was an empty net goal late in the game. And the other a Bathurst defenseman threw his stick while Sheppard had a breakaway on an empty net.

Pavelec and Bourdon looked human out there last night, however still here solid. JC Sawyer (last summer there was a rumour that Calgary was looking at signing him) dominated his play, and Flyers prospect Oskars Bartulis had what was probably his best playoff game as an Eagle on the blueline.

In other games, Lewiston took a 2-0 series lead on the Mooseheads with a 4-1 victory.

Drummondville tied their series against Rouyn-Noranda

And in a shocker Baie-Comeau took a 1-0 series lead on Val d'Or winning 5-4 with the game tying goal coming on a penalty shot in the dying seconds on the second, then scoring 46 seconds in the thrid. Game two in that series goes tonight.

Sorry forgot to mention, Ranchlander, to my knowledge there aren't any Flames prospects in the Q this year. I'd have to double check as I haven't followed the league nearly as closely as I have years past (only getting back into it now for the playoffs) so I could be mistaken. But IIRC the only Flames prospect that was in the Q last year was Thomas Bellemare who played 2 games with the Knights this year and is playing semi-pro in Quebec now.

I can't sleep, but am too lazy to update the playoff tree at the moment.

Val d'Or wins a close one in overtime. Their series is now tied at 1, with games 3, 4, and 5 taking place in Baie-Comeau. The Drakkar got the steal they needed in Val d'Or, now let's hope they can take all their home games.
