Four months ago, I got a Queen Size Sealy from Sleep Country Canada complete with a pillowtop, and I would give up my house before I gave up my bed. Go to a bed store and just lay on top of them to get a feel.

I don't know if you can take your significant other to the store to test out the mattresses in other ways, though.

I believe that you get 30 days to exchange the bed if you don't like it - so you can properly "test drive" it with your girlfriend.

I'm a female. What's the name of bed? I'm looking a full. I have a twin right now, but looking for a full. I'm not looking to spend more than 200. Look for sales, mattresses are expensive. I like Serta.

IKEA, I just bought a new one recently. It was pretty cheap compared to other places, they have a decent selection, but I am not sure how it compares to others.
Also I put it together in like 5 minutes.

Don't expect much of a bed for $200.

I work at the Sears Outlet so I may be biased!!
But I would never buy a mattress or boxspring anywhere else.
Brand new mattresses, that are a little dirty, may have a tiny tear in the fabric.
Some of the mattresses came from catalogue returns where the customer didn't even take it out of the store, or a customer just wanted a boxspring or mattress and split up a set so they sent the extra piece to the outlet store.
NONE OF THE MATTRESSES HAVE EVER BEEN SLEPT ON!!!
At the sears outlet every boxspring or foundation is 30 dollars unless it is a kingsize then it is 60. Cheapest in town as far as I have heard from customers.

I used to be in the Mattress department so here are my tips:
1) If you are going to buy a kingsize mattress make sure you aren't going to be moving it around a lot, they are huge and really you might have to bend them(which is very bad for the mattress) to get them through the doors. Also buy a no flip mattress, this is where the pillow top is only on one side and the manufacturer guarantees that there will be no body impression left on the foam, so that you won't have to flip a king size mattress all the time. Queen size is the most popular size for couples.

2) Three different types usually, Firm, Medium, Plush - What this is the guage size of the springs. Most people like firm cause they say it beter for their back but really it's customer preference. If it feels good, that's what you want.

3) Independent Coil or Pocket Coil - if you are going to sleep beside another person this is what you want!! Bowling ball commercial!! Enough said!!!

4) Coil Count - The higher the count the more support you will have under your body.

5)Pillow Top - Thickness of the pillow top, the thicker it is the more layers of foam that are ontop of the springs, which means the less likely you will feel the springs on your back. Also it is more softer but you will still get the advantages of the support of the springs, so it won't be like you are sleeping on a foam mattress.

6)Boxspring or Foundation - if you can get the matching set great!!! But if you can't make sure that you look underneath the boxspring or foundation. If you look under the boxspring inbetween the slats, you will either see a wood color or a black color. Wood BAD!!! It means you are sleeping on an elevated posture board which does not allow your mattress to flex when you move or lay down. Black means the boxspring has an actual spring system to allow flex and movement from your mattress.

That's the basics of a mattress and boxspring.
If you are looking for an actual headboard and footboard, with a frame Sears Outlet does not normally carry those things.
If you are planning to go check out the Sears outlet, expect to see either a slim amount of mattresses, or a whole bunch. If you are lucky and see a lot of mattresses it's cause you came when a shipment just came. If not, it's cause the mattresses sell almost instantly cause we normally take 60% off of the retail price when it comes to our store. The Sears Outlet for mattresses is either hit or miss so don't think that we have a regular amount of mattresses on hand.
Hope that helps!!!

EDIT: Oh yeah most important, LIE DOWN ON IT!!! MAKE SURE IT IS COMFORTABLE AND IT IS WHAT YOU WANT!!!! Buying a mattress is probably one of the most important decisions, you may end up buying something that may end up hurting you in the long run.

Wow thanks for the indepth info Vernie, question for you, im quite sure im going to go with the pocket coil that i described above from Sleep Country, the sales guy did say though that since im going to go with king sized that the manufacturer does recommend flipping or rotating the mattress every once and a while, is this just because its a king or because of the whole pocket coil thing?
Also i may still go Queen not 100% decided on that though, besides the actual size of the bed would you recommend one or the other for any other reason, and yes it will most of the time be two of us in the bed if that info helps at all.

All mattresses that have double pillow top or no pillow top at all have to be flipped.
This is due to the fact that the foam will start to sag and create a depressed zone.
The size of mattress does not matter all mattresses have to be flipped.
Unless you buy a NO FLIP mattress, you can ask the salesperson to see one.
May cost a little more, but you never have to worry about flipping the mattress, and if you do get a king size it is not fun to flip the mattress.
Although I don't know how many people do really flip their mattresses on a regular basis, cause I know I don't do it on a regular basis.
